Most college seniors entering their final semester are thinking about how to balance their schoolwork with a job search, but one young man from Mississippi is more preoccupied with funding in his district as the youngest person elected to the state's House of Representatives.

Jeramey Anderson, a democrat who will represent District 110 , was sworn in on his 22nd birthday.

According to local reports, Anderson won Democrat Billy Broomfield’s vacated seat beating out the party-backed former Moss Point Mayor Aneice Liddell with 60 percent of the vote.

“I was going to stick to municipal government and, in my opinion, it’s go big or go home,” he told The Washington Post about his decision to go for a state level office at such a young age. “I felt that with that position opening up I felt like my service would be better off in that capacity than in a local position.”

One of Anderson's main concerns is how to designate more funding towards education and increase teacher’s pay in his district. .........................(more)

The problem for liberals is that when children finish school and get an actual job they tend to leave the party. That leaves liberals with children and the unemployable for a base. There are some, like college professors, who are only marginally considered employed.

Support what? This?

more funding towards education and increase teacher’s pay in his district

Same old, same old. We spend generously on education and receive a poor return on our investment. Time for the people in "his district" to their education a little more seriously.

So this ignorant young man won a seat by supporting the status-quo of Prussian-style, assembly line education? This must be the return of Camelot.

You may be right but we don't know the condition of education funding in his district.

I admire this young man for running for and winning this office. From the sound of the opposition, he will be an improvement.

Overall, the record of more "investment" in government schools is pretty poor.

I think it's awesome.

I think people who get involved, especially young people, are far better than the Old Ignorant Fools who sit on the sidelines and preach only what they are told. I say get involved, learn what's really going on because the sooner the Old Dirt is gone, the better we'll all be.

Jeramey Anderson, a democrat who will represent District 110 , was sworn in on his 22nd birthday. Looks more like people electing someone only by race. Blacks tend to only have the race card to play which doesn't work with most people.
