The Senate is poised to vote on Monday afternoon to make Janet Yellen the first-ever woman to chair the Federal Reserve.

Fifty-one votes are required for confirmation, and she's set to easily cross that threshold, despite broad Republican opposition.

The Yellen nomination received 59 votes to move forward on Dec. 20 before the holiday recess. That was enough to break a filibuster after Democrats eliminated the 60-vote threshold for presidential nominations (other than the Supreme Court) in November.

Well lets hope that she is up to the job?

Other than her continued backing of Q E I think she might be a lot better than people believe. lets face it she is not going to have to be much to be better than we had!

If he was still 2008's Candidate Obama, he'd get rid of the Federal Reserve completely.

The Federal Reserve system was a creation of rich bankers for rich bankers. It's a joke and that old man in a wig or woman or whatever she is will preside over the joke as joke on us.

Look up the Jekyll Island conference and tell me that its not about keeping the elite well fed.

she's the most experience fed chair who has ever been confirmed.

speaking of which:

update:

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Janet Yellen to serve as the next chair of the Federal Reserve, after Ben Bernanke finishes his second term at the end of the month.

Senators voted 56 to 26 in her favor, with many missing the vote because of inclement weather.Eleven Republicans broke party ranks, voting to support Yellen.

She's not the most experienced Fed Chair. She has a Ph.D in Economics. You cannot become Fed Chairperson without a Ph.D in Economics and all Fed Chairmen have been President of a Reserve Bank.

Meaning, she is just as experienced as any person before her.

It's an illegitimate system regardless of who runs it. It destroys the value of savings and places the economic future of a nation into the hands of a private banking system with its own agenda.

However, that is another thread and I'm ruining this thread on women doing something that they didn't do before.

She is definitely on the deflation binge, despite how much consumer goods are rising. Although, I don't agree that we are having deflation, but if we are, it is certainly in terms of Fed Chairpersons...

Exactly. She also did not suck the cock of Greenspan as Bernanke did for years prior to getting his position.

She is only a front runner/nominee because of her misguide view that QE would lead to very little inflation.

That is all...

Ben Bernanke has begun a more monetary hawkish policy. I don't believe Yellen will see this policy to term. She was QE3's biggest advocate.

However, anything can happen.
