Of course he thinks the world is a better place than it has ever been. What he means is that it's a better place for him and his fellow rich ass cronies. He just tossed out that nonsense about "no poor countries by 2035" to make people think he was talking about the world at large.

This from Gregory Clark's A Farewell to Alms: : A Brief Economic History of the World:

http://i.snag.gy/z2Kjy.jpg

The great divergence the split between those who embraced the Enlightenment, the rise of Liberty, Free-Markets, Science, Technology, etc, and those who did not, and still do not, and who are still stuck in the Malthusian Trap.

Question is, when we say no poor countries, do we mean those who diverged will raise up those who did not, or the opposite, a leveling of the playing field, a leveling of everything?

The Gate's vaccine program will kill off 80%. The rest of the people get the money left over.

capital isn't fixed. Gates is wealthy because Microsoft produces something that people find valuable. If Microsoft's products didn't, the majority of his wealth would --poof-- disappear.

Hey look - another mega-wealthy dude who thinks he can solve the worlds problems because he has more money than he'll ever need.

Great.

Add them to sports figures and dipshit musicians who think their opinions really matter.

My son had to travel to the Philippines to learn why I said there were no poor people in the U.S. He wrote saying, "Poor in the U.S. and poor here aren't the same thing." No kidding.

Never fear. The left will keep us supplied with poor one way or another. The poor are a valuable asset to the left.

Gates was a ruthless businessman, you read his story, but, and I think it was his wife, he does give away millions if not billions in charity work.

Now 94.99999% of people are in the minority of wealth holdings.

I tried to seek out the Bible verse stating that "The poor will always be with you", but alas, the word "poor" in a search of e-sword brings hundreds of verses. It's my belief that regardless of how much money or resources are thrown at the "Poor", there will always be poverty. Yes, we eradicated polio, and many other diseases, but poverty isn't a disease as much as it is a condition. It's noble to assist the poor, but in reality, it's like carrying a bucket of water with a hole in the bottom.

So what? It's still the moral duty of all people. Even the evil, scary Muslims are commanded to help the poor.

Gates is living proof that monopolistic capitalism rules today and makes one obscenely rich!

Where is the Hell is that trickle down?

How is capitalism monopolistic but through the monopolistic power of government?

I think the word for that is corporatism.

The poor are a lot more valuable to the corporate oligarchy as slaves!

Fixed it for ya!

I daresay the Fillipino natives have a lot more freedom that we do. Like Libertarians, they get to run around naked on the beaches, dig for gold, do drugs, and clear cut the forests, and pimp out their 10 year old daughters.

Ford, the DuPonts supported the Nazi War Machine, and the Rockefeller's developed the New World Order, just like Gates is.
If Gates really cared about Americans, he would have given it to needy people here, and not to 3hd world shithole African nations who are ruled by tribal savagery.

He wants to destroy American sovereignty, folks! Time to wake up!

You're missing the point, I didn't say we shouldn't help the poor. I was just shedding light upon the futility. Many times "help" isn't helping. Take a long look at Haiti. People pour food and money into that place like a fire hose. It's done nothing to curb the overpopulation. It's done nothing to reduce crime. It's a fact that well fed people breed and that has exacerbated the problem. It's cruel logic, I know.

Corporatism meant something different to Mussolini.

Corporations haven't controlled government since the 16th amendment.
