A retired Army general and Fox News analyst told a Tea Party group that he would lead a military coup against the U.S. government, if only reluctantly.

Paul Vallely, a retired major general and senior military analyst for the conservative news channel, told the Surprise, Arizona, Tea Party Patriots during a Dec. 3 speech that other retired military personnel and veterans groups had contacted him about the possibility.

“I had a call this afternoon from Idaho, the gentleman said, ‘If I give you 250,000 Marines to go to Washington, will you lead them?’” Vallely said as the group laughed and gasped. “I said, ‘Yes, I will, I’ll surround the White House and I’ll surround the Capitol building, but it’s going to take physical presence to do things.”

Vallely, who has suggested a variety of extra-constitutional remedies to remove President Barack Obama from office, said extraordinary means were necessary to achieve the legislative results he wanted.

The irony in your post here is that what this patriotic general wants to do is to boot out the Constitution shredding facist who is currently destroying America and our freedoms by himself
implementing democracy in its place. Just curious, have you read about all of the military officers who have either retired, left out of disgust or were fired by Obama? Oh, and onbama is also reducing our military might on a daily basis to where even Russia is laughing at us now and has a leg up on us...militarily speaking. The revolution against this turkey is just starting to heat up. I imagine after this turkey's SOTU speech tonight where he says he's going around congress to perform his dictaorship role--that the revolution against this anti American will be kicked into full steam ahead mode.

So you're joining them in the coup? Willing to literally put your neck on the line in an act easily seen as treason? I think not.

So we kill them back and life goes on. I fail to see the problem. Like I said, this is primarily rhetoric. Hot air. Bullshit. If a few of these nutjobs decide to stage a domestic terrorist attack on Washington DC or blow up a Federal building next to day care center, any survivors will be captured, tried and executed.

When The Bankers Plotted To Overthrow FDR

Critics on the right worried that Roosevelt was a Communist, a socialist or the tool of a Jewish conspiracy. Critics on the left complained his policies didn't go far enough. Some of Roosevelt's opponents didn't stop at talk.
Though it's barely remembered today, there was a genuine conspiracy to overthrow the president.

The Wall Street Putsch, as it's known today, was a plot by a group of right-wing financiers.

"They thought that they could convince Roosevelt, because he was of their, the patrician class, they thought that they could convince Roosevelt to relinquish power to basically a fascist, military-type government," Denton says.
"It was a cockamamie concept," she adds, "and the fact that it even got as far as it did is pretty shocking."

The conspirators had several million dollars, a stockpile of weapons and had even reached out to a retired Marine general, Smedley Darlington Butler, to lead their forces.

"Had he been a different kind of person, it might have gone a lot further," Denton says. "But he saw it as treason and he reported it to Congress."

Remember it was the fascists who succeeded.

Did the bankers succeed? No, FDR was too powerful as the head of an already centrally planned crony corporatism of social democracy, and already "fascist, military-type government".

Agreed. Unfortunately, most "media" are just infotainment channels. It's all about the money. Fox caters to the Tea Party and far Right Wing, MSNBC caters to the far left. Smart people recognize it for what it is and give it the credit it's due. :)

While I readily agree that's where they are headed, my friend, I do not agree we are there.

To win this fight, it's important to win the favor of those who are disgusted with both sides, those who want to do right, but don't have ideological blinders covering their eyes.

The thing is, the same people ranting on this forum about how a revolution or uprising against the government would never work because the government is legitimate and legal just by virtue of existing, would have been saying the same thing to the colonials in the 1700's.

First, the Founders only reluctantly entered into revolt. They considered themselves British citizens first and simply wanted to be treated as such.

Second, it's not so much that a revolt wont' work as that most of those advocating it are a bunch of armchair pussies who have done little to serve their nation, much less do much to make it right.

You're one of the ones that would have said that about the colonials.
Serious question, tho. Did you serve?
