My avatar is of my former cat Prissy who passed at Christmas. She was 19 years old and will never be forgotten.

Yesterday I picked up two kittens. They are sibling sisters.

They are 8 weeks old and just full of themselves. I haven't decided on names yet but am thinking of Spooky for the black cat and Tigger for the tabby

I like Spooky. I think you should name the tabby Antonio.

Nice. Cute kittens.

I hope my cat lives to 19. I'm gonna be sad when the fat bastard goes.

Well she is a girl, I am not sure Antonio fits.

But she could be a lesbian, who knows.

So sorry to hear about your baby Prissy. So sad. Did you get the dynamic duo from a rescue shelter or from a person you knew or someone who ran an ad? I am happy to hear you are giving two cats a good home, so kind to do that. They are cute kittens. Naming them is always fun but sometimes frustrating. Spooky seems like a good name for the boy, he has a look in his eye like a spooky little devil. How about Tabitha for the girl, and Tabi for her nickname? My kitty Mouki, turned 4 years old last August. I rescued him from my parents garage. I think his mother had been killed and carried off by coyotes. Never a minutes regret at taking him in though. He is curled up sleeping in the middle of the living room floor in his bed with his paw across eyes right now.

Update on the kitties.

I have had them four days now. Feeding and playing has already broke the ice. They are running after me instead of away from me. Still haven't decided on the name for the gray tabby.

My Pappy, named for Gregory Boyington, famous Marine Ace, POW and drunk.

He's big. Almost as big as my Beagle. My GF has relatives visit and, mine being a pet friendly house and yard, everyone brings their dogs.
None of them fuck with Pappy....at least not for long. He has all of his claws and is one of the few cats after my own heart. http://a.imageshack.us/img688/7549/piratesmiley1icon.gif

The mousetrap isn't for mice, it's to keep him off the table and other counter surfaces. He respects the traps. Most are't armed and all have had the springs weakened with a pair of needle-nose pliers (I sure as shit don't want to have to pay any vet bills! No Obamacare for cats!)

I had a dog named Pappy - he was a great little guy and pretty smart too. He was 16 when he passed away. I miss all my furry friends who have been such an important part of my life along the way. It's sad that they have such short lifespans.

Yes, sad, but an important lesson. Which is one reason why I think having pets are an important lesson for all kids old enough to care for one. It teaches them the value of friendship, companionship, responsibilities in caring for each other and, yes, sadly death.

We all die. It's important that we realize this so that we may truly live. People who think they are immortal don't strive. They don't treasure every moment. They don't realize how important little things can be more important than big things. Our little furry friends help remind us of this.

Thanks Max. I feel the same way. It's the little things that truly touch your soul that you will always remember. Having pets teaches children to be less selfish and consider someone else's needs beyond their own and mortality is something that we must all come to terms with and that is probably better dealt with sooner than later when we are more brittle. It does teach kids to treat life seriously and to view it as the precious thing that it is.

Your pets live as long as they're remembered and as long as you keep them in your heart.

Notice my new avatar are of Spooky and Miss T at 16 weeks. They are growing like weeds and Spooky isn't "spooky" any more. She is totally out of her shell.644364446445

They need to relax more. This is my cat Pappy (for Pappy Boyington). He's a nightstalker and tends to bring dead baby rabbits and birds into the house through the doggy door.

"No, crazy people don't know they're going crazy, they think they're getting saner."
- John Locke, "Lost" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0636303/quotes?item=qt0450838)

When I was in the mental ward they always said those who thought they were crazy were really sane, and those who thought they were sane ....well you know. And I speak from experience!

That's the way it usually works out! :)

On the old TV show "Night Court", a catch line by John Aston's character was "I'm feeling much better now!"

Picture from Sunday They are now approximately 22 weeks old. They are both "mean as a snake" as we used to say down south.

oooooohh the grey one has special markings. How come I can see this picture but not the first two? If that's a boy I'd name him Target, or Bullseye.

And here are the two terrors in the windowsill watching the Florida butterflies outside.

The Gray Tabby is Miss T (for Terror). And the black one is named Spooky, because she was really skittish when I first got her. No she tortures Miss T and myself.

I'd like a cat.

They are easy to get. Some Pet Smarts actually work with rescue organizations to find homes for rescued cats. I would check the internet for your local area and you are sure to find some.

I was lucky to find a cat owner whose cat had a liter and they wanted to find a home for. I took the two females, that you see in pictures.

Previously I had two that lived to be 18 and 19 respectively.

I used to love dogs more, but now I have learned to love cats more. They are so independent.
