How Much Power Will Congress Let Obama Seize?

Would Congress stop President Barack Obama if he unilaterally declared he was raising the federal income tax rates for families that earn between $50,000 and $99,000 per year?

This week, Obama swept aside the plain and unambiguous language in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that he personally signed and fought all the way to the Supreme Court to maintain, so he could unilaterally suspend the law's requirement that the government extract penalty "payments" from businesses that do not comply with a mandate to provide their workers with health insurance.

It does not appear Congress is going to do anything about this remarkable usurpation of power.

So, if the president can unilaterally cut the payments some businesses are required by law to make to the government, why can't he unilaterally increase the payments extracted from some families?

Why can't he just set tax rates at whatever level he pleases? Why can't he do the same with spending?

Do the actual words in our laws still bind the people sworn to execute them? No. Has Obama violated his oath of office? Yes.

Barack Obama has changed by executive fiat Obamacare 27 times in significant ways. He has actually written law an usurped Congress's power. We have Separation of Powers for very good reasons and this seems to be lost on our congress. Why?

Because the Democrats are good with the changes that help their political changes in 2014 - 2016. The Establishment Republicans fear being called: racists, evil, anti-woman, anti-poor, etc... by the national news media when they stand up to the media's messiah.

Barack Obama has not just done this to Obamacare. He has done it with immigration, economic issues, and much more.

So when as a nation do we the people decide it's too much? When do we demand that the President ENFORCE THE LAWS AS THEY ARE WRITTEN AND AS HE SWORE TO DO?

The first Liberal that says... but... but BUSH DID IT TOO should go flush themselves for their failure to deal with the topic at hand.

Obama has used the least amount of executive orders than any recent president. Try to learn some facts for once instead of listening to idiot tea baggers. Oh wait you are one.

You clearly need one since you don't understand what I'm talking about. Executive orders honoring trees are not the same as executive orders changing big legislation. Except to an ObamaApologist.

Actually, you probably need an IQ boost.

George Bush Senior had the least of "recent" presidents with 166, Clinton the most of "recent presidents" with 364, and Obama is at 168 in his 5th year of office. Bush and Clinton were both 2 term presidents.

Never let facts get in the way of a good old fashioned liberal circle jerk headlined by possibly the two biggest hacks in the history of any politics forum.

Lots of lies about obama and what he does. Having said that Holder and his moves piss me off more than obamas executive orders.

To date Obama is way under GWBUSH in total executive orders signed and Clinton signed more than both of them

The right on this forum need to stop their ranting BS and actually get off their arse and go find some FACTS and post them for a change.

Yet he uses them to rewrite laws, and enact new laws.. But of course you being a liberal would not understand the problem with that!

You mean nice deflection.

As he will not be able to factually address the fact that the chosen one uses executive orders to rewrite passed legislation, to unlawfully prevent enforcement of passed legislation and enact new and unwritten laws.

But liberals never have any trouble serving a master!

you mean like the facts that you posted that the President with the most was a Democrat, and the Obama is well on his way to nearing or equaling that number!

And the fact that he uses them to enact and re write legislation! And that Congress does not challenge him on this!

Stuff like that?

Right. The numbers of executive orders matter much less than what they are used for. They are not supposed to be used for changing legislation.

Cigar and montoya are the same kind of guys, who during the Cold War, had no problem with anything the Communists were doing, i.e. Pol Pot's killing fields, the Vietnamese boat people, etc., Stalin's purges.
