http://thelibertarianrepublic.com/kindergarten-teacher-might-fired-caught-students-sex-video/#.UwvPZ_RdUnIA popular kindergarten teacher in South Jersey was suspended and may be fired after she discovered two of her students in the bathroom “having sex.”Kelly Mascio reportedly acted in a professional manner and responsibly reported the incident, but now school officials are looking to have her fired after she served the district for 16 years. On September 30th of 2013 Mascio reportedly found two of her 5-year-old students, a boy and a girl, naked together in the bathroom near her classroom. She reported the incident immediately but was still suspended later that day for “failure to supervise her students.”In a closed door session meeting the district’s board met to discuss whether to fire the teacher.Superintendent Brenda Harring-Marro issued a statement that read (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/kids-5-found-naked-school-bathroom-teacher-canned-article-1.1699249#ixzz2uHab2Tal):“The district takes its responsibilities very seriously regarding the health, safety and welfare of our children,” she said, adding they do not comment on specific personnel matters. “Simply stated, it would be unprofessional and irresponsible for anyone associated with the school district to speak about school district students or for others to seek to capitalize on that unprofessional and irresponsible behavior.” She added: “public reporting of this matter is neither complete nor accurate” though she did not elaborate or release additional information.*********************************I really don't know what to think of this. What the fuck are 5 year olds doing naked together? Also, why were they allowed in the same bathroom?

Your thread title and the facts conflict.

She reported the incident immediately but was still suspended later that day for “failure to supervise her students.”

Fixed. Still I don't think they were necessarily her students. Still weird.

Public school fail. But in all honesty this could have happened at a private school too. But why fire the teacher? Didn't the teacher do the right thing by stopping it and reporting it?

It's rare, but I'm on the teacher's side on this one - given the current information.

If you assume they were her students I would think the issue is that she was not supervising the kids because they should have been in the class room. Now, granted, they may have left the room when she wasn't looking and she immediately went looking for them. I guess what she should have done is called a Planned Parenthood representative who could have then taught the children about contraceptives.

Me too. Kindergarten rooms typically have a unisex one hole bathroom in the class room itself. There is no lock on the door either so getting walked in on is a routine occurrence. With todays kids behavior and a couple dozen or more of them to watch the best teacher is going to have trouble keeping an eye on every one of them every second. I would rather see the board dismissed. They are useless ticks anyway.

Being naked is not necessarily having sex. It could have been an extreme case of curiosity.

True story. When I was in kindergarten the one holer was just as I described. I was just about done taking a dump and the door flung open and a giggling girl said, "I want to see your thing." I naturally thought she wanted to see my turd and stood up and presented it to her. She took off squealing like I had a mouth full of worms and I ended up getting in trouble for being vulgar. Nobody lost their job and it was three or four years later that I figured out my classmate had no interest in seeing my excrement.

Me too. Kids ask to go to the bathroom. A teacher is not required to leave 39 students to supervise one. Additionally, this is not the sort of thing that is non-fortuitous. Who would presume to think that two 5 year olds would be trying to have sex?

Could have happened during recess. Seems she suffers because she reported it to school management.

...society's failure...sex is everywhere and certain sections (liberal progressives) don't have a problem with it since it's natural...even for a pair of 5 year olds apparently...

One of my first memories was getting caught playing doctor with the girl next door. I was 4 and she was 5. I think the only reason i remember was because I couldn't sit for a week... might have been a 2 wooden spooner.

15 years ago I would be very shocked. Because that sort of weirdness wasn't as prevalent. Now days? I'm not surprised, but saddened.

This sort of thing doesn't just float into their heads. They probably saw some bit of pornography, or were exposed to it in some way. I know when I was five I was much more concerned with getting my fruit snacks than I was about getting laid.

This is a failure of parenting, or a product of malevolent engineering by an outside force, possibly both.

I used to buy the whole 'blame society' thing. Certainly it doesn't help, but ultimately this rests with the parents and the structure of the home life.

And blaming society doesn't fix the problem. Want to fix society? Fix yourself and set an example. Help others on the way.

This sort of thing has undoubtedly happened throughout history. What has changed is the perception we have to form over an isolated event that was handled improperly and mass communicated to the whole world. What a gigantic failure on the schools part for that.

Society is a product of many moving parts, fix the moving parts and you fix society.

You're lashing out at an organism with no pain sensors and no bodily mass to inflict harm upon - that is what my old man said about me being pissed off at the government. It applies to society as well.

Truth is you cannot fix society or government, only people, and that is a daunting task requiring great patience.

Agreed. Continual press coverage gives the illusion that it is happening everywhere all the time, when in reality it simply isn't.

Secondly, 5 year olds and other pre-pubescent children are curious, but have no desire for sex. Most boys can't even get an erection until about 11 or 12.

A cold dick isn't an erect one. :)

While some of the plumbing is there, the sexual desire is not.

She had some 200 people show up to support her. Comments I read on one news site shows she has a lot of people supporting her.

Do some schools have bathrooms as part of the class room? Growing up, our bathrooms were out of the class room.

Really depends on the school, and the age of the class as well. Most of the Kindergarteners have a bathroom closet in the classroom in schools I have been in. Depends on the age of the student really.

In that case, by firing the teacher, society isn't allowing it.

Jeesh! Most kindergarteners are supervised in the restroom. In other words, they line up and go in one at a time while the teacher watches the line. It seems obvious to me that this teacher failed in her duties. Any teacher that doesn't know the doctor game is a complete and utter moron.

Frankly I can't remember back that far, but my quick research indicates most males don't have erections until 11-12.

I remember an embarrassing incident in junior high, but only a few memories of the family being shipped to Germany in 1959, our 3 years there and return. None had anything to do with sex.
