The Supreme Court struck another blow against the Constitution with Sotomayer and Ginsberg trying to fight back the swell of pro-police state mentality in the US

Wednesday round-up
Coverage of, and commentary on, the Court focused on the three opinions in argued cases that the Court issued yesterday. In Fernandez v. California (http://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/fernanedz-v-california/?wpmp_switcher=desktop), the Court held – by a vote of six to three – that, even if one occupant of a dwelling objects, police may still search that dwelling if another occupant consents after the objecting occupant has been removed. Rory Little covered the case for this blog (http://www.scotusblog.com/2014/02/opinion-analysis-the-court-narrowly-limits-a-precedent-allowing-co-occupant-objections-to-warrantless-consent-searches/); other coverage comes from Nina Totenberg of NPR (http://www.npr.org/2014/02/25/282589114/high-court-opens-door-to-easier-police-searches), Jess Bravin and Brent Kendall of The Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/news/article_email/SB10001424052702304834704579405423339750110-lMyQjAxMTA0MDIwNTEyNDUyWj), Robert Barnes of The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/supreme-court-rules-in-favor-of-police-in-home-searches-without-objector-present/2014/02/25/7bc1bb6a-9e5a-11e3-b8d8-94577ff66b28_story.html?tid=hpModule_ba0d4c2a-86a2-11e2-9d71-f0feafdd1394&hpid=z12), and Jaclyn Belczyk of Jurist (http://jurist.org/paperchase/2014/02/supreme-court-eases-restrictions-on-warrantless-home-searches.php). The articles by Barnes and Bravin and Kendall also reported on yesterday’s opinion in Kaley v. United States (http://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/kaley-v-united-states/), in which the Court – again divided six to three – held that a criminal defendant whose assets have been frozen before his trial does not have a right to a hearing to challenge the probable cause for his indictment, even if he needs the money to hire a lawyer to defend him against the charges. I covered the decision in Kaley for this blog (http://www.scotusblog.com/2014/02/opinion-analysis-no-right-to-challenge-probable-cause-finding-underlying-asset-freeze-even-to-pay-your-lawyers/). In the third decision yesterday, Walden v. Fiore (http://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/walden-v-fiore/), the Court held that a Georgia police officer could not be sued in Nevada for his conduct in Georgia, even if that conduct affected plaintiffs who had connections in Nevada. Kimberly Bennett covered the decision for Jurist (http://jurist.org/paperchase/2014/02/supreme-court-rules-contacts-with-forum-state-not-decisive-for-personal-jurisdiction.php).

Country is fucked unless something drastic happens. It's just a erosion at this point, one that's been picking up speed at an alarming rate.

So you're saying Sotomayer and Ginsberg voted against the increasing intrusion of police into our private lives?

...she said herself that she got her place in school because of her ethnicity...her scores were too low BUT they pushed her through the door anyway because of her "ethnicity"...I remember her telling someone in an interview about how a teacher slammed her on this and she didn't blink an eye about replacing someone that was more deserving of that spot...if you know this about her and still feel good about her then you are part of the problem in America...

What does all of that have to do with the topic at hand?

No, the problem is those who complain about one side of the aisle and not the other. Dumbo Dubya had no right to be admitted to any college at all, yet his Daddy got him in one that required practically perfect SAT scores from real Americans. Eliminate both sides and also the Greenheads and Libretardians.
