Apparently, the Republican candidate in a special election in Florida, David Jolly, has defeated his Democratic opponent, in something of an upset.

Here are the totals, with all 225 precints reporting:

David W. Jolly (REP) 88,294 (48.43%)

Alex Sink (DEM) 84,877 (46.56%)
Lucas Overby (LPF) 8,799 (4.83%)

WRITE-IN 325 (0.18%)

I say that Mr. Jolly "apparently" has won, since there are likely to be lawsuits. Or, even more probably, a "lost" ballot box may suddenly turn up with just enough votes to put the Democratic candidate over the top...

I don't know why, but there's something about Jolly I liked, reading about him. Nothing to do with positions, party, or tabloid shit, just something about his attitude.

And the libertarian vote would have mainly been diverted from the Republican vote.

Not sure why this is an upset, it was an election to replace a Republican representative.

It's an upset because without former Rep. Young on the ballot, the district was pro-Democrat and up until the polls closed, Jolly was a long shot.
