Don't be too fast to laugh. If we Amended the Constitution and instead of electing career donkephants we selected could we do much worse. To be eligible you would need to meet current requirements to be eligible to vote. And you could only do one term in your lifetime. What do you think?

The system we have now is not the problem. Its probably as good as any system ever devised. We are the problem and if we fail to keep ourselves informed and are too lazy to act on it no change to the system will help. If you have a good representative then reelect him or her. If not then get out there and replace them. One term should be sufficient to find out what kind of rep they truly are. If they aren't good then term limit them in the very next election. I feel the same way about those people (including conservatives) who think wholesale changes to our constitution will solve any problems. Representatives, Senators, Presidents and judges and even some police ignore or refuse to follow the constitution now. Why would things be any different with an amended constitution?

Yes, however if we can't get the money machine out of politics ....

You know, it doesn't take a complete turnover to make changes. All it takes is for a few people to get in like we are seeing now that will destabilize the establishment way of doing things. When people see that things can be different then we will see a few more and then hopefully even more. Our government didn't become corrupt overnight. It was a gradual thing. I think that when the tide turns the problems will be corrected much more rapidly.
