Obamcare enrollments exceeded all expectations, premiums are going to be lower than predicted, millions of Americans now have health coverage. So, as President Obama said Thursday, in announcing 8 million enrollments (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/17/1292771/-President-Obama-to-make-statement-at-daily-press-briefing), "It's well past time to move on as a country."

Right? Ha.

No, we can't. RT @ZekeJMiller: Obama: "I think we can all agree that it's well past time to move on."

House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy said Obama was “right” when he said the GOP refuses to accept the Affordable Care Act “as settled law.”

“Republicans cannot and will not accept this law,” McCarthy said in a statement.

For Republicans, no Obamacare news is good Obamacare news. It's just another opportunity to roll out the talking points, the "unskewing" (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/17/1292773/-House-Republicans-try-their-hand-at-unskewing-Obamacare) and the conspiracy theories about how the numbers really can't be all that good. Because everybody knows, this law is doomed to collapse under its own weight. That's their theory, and they're sticking to it all the way through November.

Here’s how we got to 8 million Obamacare signups

After a two-week extension of the Obamacare open enrollment deadline, the White House announced today that 8 million people have signed up through the health-care law's insurance marketplaces since it opened in October. That means about 900,000 people picked a health plan in the two weeks since the end of the original March 31 enrollment deadline.

When signups hit 7 million on April 1, I wrote about why that number alone didn't necessarily say whether the Affordable Care Act would succeed. The same goes for the newly announced 8 million signups.

Now that we pretty much have the final tally (a few state-run exchanges, including the District's, are still allowing enrollment through the end of the month), here's what enrollment actually looked like vs. expectations set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in September before the insurance marketplaces opened.

Good News for Obamacare Is Bad News for Conservative Pundits
http://upload.democraticunderground.com/imgs/2014/140421-yet-another-obamacare-horror-story-goes-down-in-flames.jpg

There is a double standard in the media. When bad news comes up with respect to Democrats or liberals, the corporate media relentlessly plays this up. But when facts arise that contradict right wing talking points, the corporate right wing media, simply pretends that they do not exist.

Conservatives were sure at every turn that Obamacare would fail, but as the numbers roll in, those convictions are looking increasingly ideological.

First they said nobody would enroll. Then they said first-year premiums would be through the roof. And later, they warned of a "death spiral," wherein premiums would go up uncontrollably. My colleague Sam Baker has written an excellent analysis of the situation, the upshot of which is that Obamacare is on a winning streak.

The next great frontier of conservative hyperbole concerns premiums for 2015, with critics warning that costs will double or even triple next year.

As of this week, we have good evidence to the contrary. Health insurance premium rates are expected go up just 7 percent—a rate of increase much lower than what critics were predicting. And the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office is predicting that premium hikes will be relatively modest.

If it was truly working......then you must consider this move by Obama as downright misogynistic. He takes the credit himself? This is Sebelius's credit if it is indeed working! Those are the correct questions. How many uninsured signed up. Also how many of the young people bought their own policies vice hanging out on mom and dad's policy. We will know pretty soon. The insurance company bean counters are crunching numbers. I predict skyrocketing costs for health insurance.

I don't care. All it means to me is that some fat cat insurance companies signed up fools.

They were misled to accept they were forced by Obama to agree to terms with insurance companies.

Bob

I heard Obama claim that 60 million had no insurance

OK, we know a lot got dumped by insurance companies.

We know a lot were told their policy was not good by Obama.

Do the math

If we knew the correct figure for those dumped and those told the policy was worthless, we could get down to actual people that never had insurance that signed up.

Let's go by some better numbers.

Maybe 1 or two million not then covered but not on the list of dumped or had bad policies are left.

Let's give Obama 2 million of the 60 million since those were his actual targets.

We are looking at close to 4 percent.

And you left wingers are bragging?

Why?

Here is the real problem!

Republicans have drawn a line in the sand and are not going to budge on many of the issues in the ACA though there are some things that could help!

Democrats know that this thing is a turd and have tried to postpone all of the really crappy stuff until after the next presidential elections. But the people still know it is there.

What they are hoping I have no clue? But at the very least 90% of the law needs major reform not just a little tweaking.

With both sides firmly entrenched in their positions it is not very likely that the American people will come out a winner in this one! That is the only thing that can be assumed with a high rate of probability!
