The Army private convicted of funneling intelligence secrets to whistleblowing-website WikiLeaks can legally change her name to Chelsea Elizabeth Manning, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Manning’s private struggle to identify as a woman (http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/transgender-people-pronoun-can-be-crucial-f6C10981028) became public after she was sentenced to 35 years in prison last August for leaking more than 700,000 government files.

Manning didn’t attend the minute-long name-change hearing Wednesday, but said in a statement that it is “an exciting day.”

“Hopefully today’s name change, while so meaningful to me personally, can also raise awareness of the fact that we [transgender] people exist everywhere in America today, and that we ... must jump through hurdles every day just for being who we are,” Manning wrote.

I'll be honest I don't believe in transgender. All this gender stuff is just social constructs anyway. We're our physiology and hormones. I think these are gay people that are inclined towards things that society says are girlie or manly and then brutalize themselves to appear the way society tells them a dude or chick should look.

I think its worse when we do it to kids and confuse the fuck out of them and dope them up with hormones and shit.
