US Citizens turning away from the major parties (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/april_2014/53_think_neither_political_party_represents_the_am erican_people)

Voters continue to believe Democrats have more of a plan for the future than Republicans do, but most again say neither party represents the public. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 53% of Likely U.S. Voters think it is fair to say that neither party in Congress is the party of the American people. That’s up six points from 47% last October (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/october_2013/47_think_neither_political_party_represents_the_am erican_people) and matches the previous high found in June 2012 (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/june_2012/53_say_neither_party_represents_american_people) during the last national election cycle. Just 28% disagree, while 19% are not sure. Sounds as if they haven't learned their lessons about democrats yet. Oh well.

If you temper the results with people you know and talk to, I think the number would be higher actually. With the access and speed of which information travels, it is hard to keep a lie going on as long as it used to.

Unfortunately, the two main parties nominate the candidates and have the machinery and wherewithal to get them elected. So one might argue that if more people participated in the parties from whence the candidates come, we'd get better candidates.

This national primary system is the height of democra-idiocy. The only people who vote in most of these primaries are the extremists of both parties. Hence we get Bush/Cheney and now Obama/Biden. Next up, another damn Bush and a failed Secretary of State?
