More accomplishments of government healthcare. Veterans are the guinea pigs, we the people will be next.

No scandal here. Move along.

It is a foreshadowing of a single payer system in the US. For many reasons, a US single payer system would look more like the British system than the Canadian system.

England's system of Universal Health Care is particularly bad. I've always recommended that folks that live there invest some money in life insurance4 policies for every member of the family.

I think Obama Care was designed to fail anyway. The Democrats have been spoiling for Government run health care since I can remember and I'm 56. When the Government moves in, waste, fraud, corruption and abuse moves in with it.

Just another reminder to the idiots out there that nothing the government does works and in the long run only
hurts Americans with their lives and with the depletion of their monies.

Luckily for Brits, the suicide rate for doctors shooting themselves is quite low.

That's "bated" breath, as in "abated."

I'd be willing to bet you'd never subject yourself to the U.K. National "Health" scheme. It works about as good as the VA. All of our British friends have private health insurance and avoid it like the plague. Come to think of it, I know an American who got sick, went to one of their hospitals and ended up with something quite resembling the plague.

If you compare hours worked you will see that the price of things like T.V's, washers and dryers have dramatically fallen from 1960 to the present. We work about one fourth as many hours now for these items now than we did then. Healthcare now requires us to work about 4 times more hours than we did in 1960. Much of the healthcare increase can be directly attributable to federal government involvement in healthcare starting with medicare and medicaid in 1965.

All VA Hospitals and Clinics should be investigated and always be investigated. The VA has not and never recieved an "All Clear".

VA health care has had a long history of inadequate care. I don't remember a anyone claiming VA care was good... let alone exemplary.

This is really ironic and serves to illustrate the mentally ill level of delusion suffered by liberals:

http://washingtonexaminer.com/liberals-touted-veterans-affairs-hospitals-as-evidence-government-run-health-care-works/article/2548775

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman has penned several valentines to the Veterans Health Administration over the years. In a2006 column (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=F20717FC3A5B0C748EDDA80894DE4044 82), Krugman argued that the system was, “one of the best-kept secrets in the American policy debate.”

He explained, “pundits and policy makers don't talk about the veterans' system because they can't handle the cognitive dissonance. ... For the lesson of the V.H.A.'s success story -- that a government agency can deliver better care at lower cost than the private sector -- runs completely counter to the pro-privatization, anti-government conventional wisdom that dominates today's Washington.”
In 2011, Krugman wrote a column blasting (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/14/opinion/krugman-vouchers-for-veterans-and-other-bad-ideas.html?adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1400691639-IDHkeOg8gpg0NI03IkwnJw) Mitt Romney after the Republican presidential candidate called for partially privatizing the system. “What Mr. Romney and everyone else should know is that the V.H.A. is a huge policy success story, which offers important lessons for future health reform,” he wrote.
The lessons, he said, were that the incentives created by its integrated care model led to less waste and better quality care. “(Y)es, this is ‘socialized medicine,’” Krugman wrote, noting that some private enterprises also took a similar approach. “But it works — and suggests what it will take to solve the troubles of U.S. health care more broadly.”
In a 2007 article for the American Prospect, Ezra Klein also praised (http://prospect.org/article/health-nations) the system's outcomes. “What makes this such an explosive story is that the VHA is a truly socialized medical system,” Klein wrote. “The unquestioned leader in American health care is a government agency that employs 198,000 federal workers from five different unions, and nonetheless maintains short wait times and high consumer satisfaction.”
Both authors cited Phillip Longman, who wrote an influential book on the Left titled Best Care Anywhere: Why VA Health Care is Better Than Yours (http://www.amazon.com/Best-Care-Anywhere-Health-Better/dp/0977825302/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1400787635&sr=1-3&keywords=best+care+anywhere). Longman, in a 2005 article (http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2005/0501.longman.html) for the Washington Monthly that led to the book, wrote, “It turns out that precisely because the VHA is a big, government-run system that has nearly a lifetime relationship with its patients, it has incentives for investing in quality and keeping its patients well--incentives that are lacking in for-profit medicine.”

1.) Oh my God! How did I exist for the first 62 years of my life? And without insurance too.

2.) It seems British doctors did something right then.
