View Full Version : Obama Belittles Benghazi, Obamacare Woes at High Dollar Fundraiser

As the House Select Committee on Benghazi came into clearer focus several weeks ago, national Democrats feigned outrage (http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2014/05/08/310795987/latest-partisan-flashpoint-gop-benghazi-fundraising) over some Republicans fundraising off of the issue. The DCCC was especially exercised and indignant (http://www.dccc.org/newsroom/entry/andy_tobin_faces_massive_blowback_for_fundraising_ off_benghazi/) about it. While I agreed that the GOP shouldn't link fundraising appeals to a serious investigation, I pointed out that Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren also appeared to raising funds (http://freebeacon.com/blog/blood-money-elizabeth-warren-is-fundraising-off-benghazi/) by exploiting the Benghazi controversy. Her office has since clarified that it was a misunderstanding -- a "donate" button appears on every page of her website, so the solicitations for cash in proximity to her post on the 9/11/12 terrorist attacks were incidental, not intentional. Next, a left-wing group began explicitly raising money (http://news.yahoo.com/a-liberal-group-is-fundraising-off-of-fundraising-off-benghazi-191713495.html) by attacking Republicans' investigative efforts on Benghazi, puncturing the Left's faux fury. And now we've come full circle: President Obama assailed GOP efforts to address unanswered questions on Benghazi at a high-dollar fundraiser (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/in-the-loop/wp/2014/05/19/dine-with-obama-and-65-of-his-closest-friends/) for...the DCCC:

Obama told a DCCC fundraiser last night: "Congress is wasting time investigating the Benghazi affair and focusing on the troubles" with ACA.

The ONLY people who where there was the CIA, and they were the ones who said what happened.

Neither Susan Rice, President Obama nor Hillary where there.

Because that is what liberals do. And people like Cigar help promote their lies which makes him just as bad as them. Maybe worse.

For the remainder of his term, expect little from Obama BUT fundraising. That is the only thing he is good at.

Has Trey Gowdy even started hearings?

Whatever happened to that summer blockbuster, the one about terrorism and scandal that would be must-see congressional TV?

Don’t expect to be able to tune in to the Benghazi hearings anytime soon. No air date for the premiere has been announced, because the pre-production work is off to a deliberately slow start.
The reason is that the impresario, Rep. Trey Gowdy, is much more experienced as a prosecutor than as an executive producer. And district attorneys, at least as much as studio moguls, are trained to refrain from going public if they have any doubt about their work being ready for prime time.

For reasons both procedural and political, Gowdy has reached a conclusion 10 weeks after he was handed the gavel of a newly created select House committee: The moment is not nearly ripe for the panel to convene in the open to talk about any events before, during or after Sept. 11, 2012, the night when terrorists overran the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Libya’s second biggest city and four Americans were killed, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.

Obama and I actually having something in common. We are both spending more time thinking about retirement.
