Jim DeFede

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Fiore, a criminal investigator for the VA police department in South Florida, contacted CBS4 News hoping to shed light on what he considers a culture of cover-ups and bureaucratic neglect. Among his charges: Drug dealing on the hospital grounds is a daily occurrence.

“Anything from your standard prescription drugs like OxyContin, Vicodin, Percocet, and of course marijuana, cocaine, heroin, I’ve come across them all,” he explained.

Even inside the hospital, he says he was stopped from doing his job – investigating reports of missing drugs from the VA pharmacy.

“I was instructed that I was to stop conducting investigations pertaining to controlled substance discrepancies,” he recalled.

How on earth is this acceptable? Secret waiting lists while the patients die, theft, waste, fraud and abuse. Now drug dealing with tax payer pharmaceuticals meant for vets?? I tip my hat to the VA police department investigator coming forward with what's happening. It takes a ton of courage to do what he's done especially in today's economy.

This is indeed what happens when Government gets SO large it can no longer control itself. The agencies become the equivalent of miniature fiefdoms with non-elected unaccountable appointed rulers running the show. California is a microcosm of that. The bulk of our tribute (taxes) goes to the State who then decides who gets more and who gets less than their fair share. Much more power to run things the federal Government runs must be returned states. Much more power to run things the state Government runs must be returned counties. Much more power to run things the County Government runs must be returned to the cities. That way folks have much more power in voting when it comes to issues. Unfortunately, that means the end of liberal/socialism.

Occupy Plymouth Colony: How A Failed Commune Led To Thanksgiving

As William Bradford recorded in his Of Plymouth Plantation, a people who had formerly been known for their virtue and hard work became lazy and unproductive. Resources were squandered, vegetables were allowed to rot on the ground and mass starvation was the result. And where there is starvation, there is plague. After 2 1/2 years, the leaders of the colony decided to abandon their socialist mandate and create a system which honored private property. The colony survived and thrived and the abundance which resulted was what was celebrated at that iconic Thanksgiving feast.

Those who ignore or don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We are headed back to the Plymouth Plantation on a nation wide scale. Save your beanie weenies, you're going to need 'em.
