It’s easy enough to discuss what could happen under a controversial policy, but it’s a little more difficult to provide evidence after enactment to prove a claim.
In the case of SeaTac and its newly minted $15-per-hour minimum wage, the proof comes from a single photo of a parking receipt.

Northwest Watchdog called Masterpark to verify the authenticity of the receipt. Kevin, the attendant on duty Wednesday afternoon, confirmed the charge is real. To deal with the higher wage, enacted on Jan. 1, Masterpark is charging customers an additional 99 cents per parking day, a surcharge that comes on top of all other taxes and fees.
The Washington Policy Center, a free-market think tank, originally noticed the receipt and offered its own analysis of the situation.
“Contrary to what supporters claim, increasing the minimum wage does not create jobs and stimulate the economy,” wrote Erin Shannon, (http://www.washingtonpolicy.org/blog/post/seatac-everyone-pays-15-minimum-wage) the center’s small business analyst. “The higher wages are not free money. The increased cost must either be absorbed by the employer, which is impossible for many who already operate on shoe-string profit margins, or it must be passed on to workers, in the form of reduced hours and benefits, and consumers, in the form of higher prices. Either way, someone pays.”

So go ahead and get excited about the minimum wage going up. But be ready to pay for it out of your pocket.

If you had an IQ of at least 85 and the slightest idea of basic economics, you wouldn't need anyone to tell you. But unfortunately you're 0-2 , sport.

So out of your league that explaining it to you is a waste of my time.

Nearly $15 in tax. That's the other story here.

I checked Denver International and their valet parking in $18 per day. It didn't say if that included taxes and surcharges. 18 times 7 is $126 so Seattle is cheaper overall. Sky Harbor in Phoenix is only $8.50 per day for valet parking. Looks like liberal areas need to gouge people for more money.

Couple key things here.

First, these "taxes" don't support minimum wages paid in the private sector - which will be hit the hardest.

Second, food for thought. Airport parking is a monopoly, keep that in mind.

True, but you're missing the point. Just as with your gasoline taxes, the big gouger here is government, not the surcharge for paying higher wages.

This receipt does make it plain where the additional costs are going to land (so to speak). As you point out, airport parking is usually a monopoly. So the consumer is going to pay the full freight for sure.

We're saying the same thing. Taxing (gas for example) is monopolistic in a way also, that was my point.

But where are these taxes going, what are they funding? Federal employee minimum wage increases? How many minimum wage federal employees are there? Or state or local?

And, who funds private industry minimum wage earners? You do, but you won't see that itemized on your receipt, the dollar menu at the local drive through will suddenly become the 2-dollar menu - or, they'll make the items smaller or use more toenails and sawdust in the burger patties.
