View Full Version : What is the Most Divisive Factor Affecting Us?

Tensions are at an all-time high from all perspectives. Which do you think are the biggest threats to unity? If you choose 'other', flesh it out for us. Thanks. :)

You can pick more than one factor.

There is no doubt in my mind that class (racial is a subset of that category also IMO) is the prime reason for division.

You can look as far back into history to support that position also, it's always been at the root of social disorder.

There is definitely some overlap with some of the choices. You can pick more than one or add your own in the 'other' category and expound upon it.

Everything comes to a connective dot in the middle as far as I'm concerned and all of the items you listed do just that.

The question is what is the prime concept?

"Class" can define racial aspects, wealth, power, religion, affiliation - it's all of those things and not one of them specifically.

I also note that you left liberal ideology off that list.

Biased maybe?

In true fashion you left out left wing socialism, Is there a reason you left out any link to leftest progressiveness? Those are classic progressive positions and they are worn out, come up with something new. Honestly if you make a poll you should include something for informed people to pick from. A purely left wing mandate really doesn't leave any room for we who actually read and research things to pick from. It's like saying Biden is an idiot, YES or NO. Duh, yes he is.

Unavoidably. :)

But I gave you an 'other' option.

I'm not sure tensions are at an all-time high. I'd say there were more tense times in the 60s.

 Wait, there's another problem here. The thread title says "Most divisive factor", but then the actual heading of the poll doesn't include the word "most" and you say we can vote for more than one and then you voted for all four...so do you want us to vote for the most or just whichever ones we think contribute? I'm not trying to be a jackass, it just comes naturally.

It's the non-conformist in me. The money shot is in the ensuing discussion.

Anyway, I chose "other" and my "other" is partisanship.

That's not all that's wrong with the poll. Just sayin'. :cya20:

I think it's doing percentage by number who voted for an option / number of voters.

It's wacky, but the percentages change as more voters vote. Class warfare gets 100% because all of the 3 who have voted on the poll voted for class warfare.

As is usual for one who is extremely partisan, you left out "left wing extremism" as one of the choices. You can add that to my response. Specifically, the race baiting from the left has reached a level I've not seen since George Wallace stood in the school room door. Say, wasn't he a Democrat too?

Not that I expect you to be capable of fair and balanced.

Wallace was a Dixiecrat.

Racism and race-baiting are not the same thing.

There is a place for 'other' choices that aren't listed. Hope that helps. :)

By definition no, but there is something inherently racist about race baiting.

I'll see if you can connect those dots.

I picked "other". The questions are biased. The problem as I see it is the disrespect for people on the right from the left. The stench of liberal hypocrisy is like a stench. The left is rude, crude, pushy, nasty, and demands respect while they ridicule, insult, troll, and insult. Grow up.

We had a very clear example of the leftist race hustling these past few weeks. It was disgraceful and shameful.

What divides us the most is the desire or lack thereof for government to solve all of our problems.

Statism v. liberty.
