Eric Cantor- R of Virgina has lost his primary election bid to Dave Brat, an economics and ethics professor at Randolph- Macon College in Ashland.

This is great news for the nation, but probably too little too late. Seeya, Cantor.....

How can this be when the establishment GOPers here announced the death of the Tea Parties not too long ago.

I heard on TV (no link) that Cantor had decided the GOP leaders in Washington should ban together to show up the Tea Party.

I thought it was the left doing the announcing.

Both actually. THe left is more vociferous, but the right has more to fear in losing elections like this.

Tea Partiers outing Tea Partiers ?

Lots to say about that.

By the way, congratulations Cantor .. you made American history by becoming the first Majority Leader to be assed-out in a primary.

I believe that would be breaking the law ... Virginia apparently has a strict adherence to it's Sore Loser Law ... basically meaning Cantor can't be political in any way.

Open primary..... seems the r&f repubs didn't show up. They're mad at cantors immigration stance. Ruby red district tho.... so what, who cares.

I have a hard time wondering why this is great news for the nation or for anyone? As I wrote earlier doing nothing replaced by doing nothing is still nothing. It is sorta funny that the land of immigrants is now the land of intolerance towards immigrants, but there is also a racist or ethnic element to this xenophobia, no one mentions all the other groups entering by plane or boat, it is only the Hispanic who gets attention. That (If) Cantor lost because of his immigration positions is only further proof the right wing in America is a hateful self centered narcissistic loony bin. Its voters lost in the spin of anti all things that once made the nation a refuge for all people.

On another note I went to school with the likes of Brat and I gotta say they are one weird entitled group of mini fascists or corporatists. Remember the hierarchy of the Catholic church is their model for thought and society, it gives credence to their holier than thou partisanship. You see that in the scotus with Scalia, Alito, and Roberts, same people, same bizarre narrow minded wisdom.

One election doesn't make or break a party.

And really, there is no "tea party".

There's liberals, there's conservatives.

Period.

There are "liberals" I like, Bernie Sanders, Dennis Kucinich, Russ Feingold was awesome and then there are those I don't. There are things about Hillary that I find tolerable and things I don't.

What I can't stand is the unthinking idea that if it's (D/R) it's bad. Like Common and Mattie last night were both arguing for government control over X/Y when they want it and no control over X/Y when they don't...people just don't see that they have more in common with each other and the other party's ideas than they think.

For example, Obamacare--It was a Heritage Foundation idea primarily and when (R) Romney put it to work in Mass that was okay because, umm, like ummm a conservative did it. When Obama's administration does it suddenly it sucks ass. On the flip side, Democrats and their flag wavers LOVE it even though its a huge gimme to insurance providers and a fuck you to hospitals and doctors...and the lower middle class.

You keep poking at me about being a libertarian and I'll tell you why, it's because I am so fucking sick of the double standards, hypocrisy and inconsistency of party flag wavers.

Pretty soon partisan hacks will be calling you a liberal and you'll be heckling threads and posting gifs of dogs humping.

Never know, one of his kids may have found his computer on and decided to fool around a bit. LOL! It's not so much the R vs. D arguement that gets to me. JFK was a democrat with lots of GOOD ideas. Bad ideas come from both sides, but sucking the life out of taxpayers so that a group can breed and be idle just for the sake of it, is one dumb ass idea.

There are two basic beliefs in the political world. Those that want to control you and those that don't. Liberals want to control you and somehow believe that by controlling you they are offering freedom. Conservatives (and not CINO's) don't want to control you but believe you can make your own mind up in your own rational self interest. Both mainstream Democrats and Republicans today believe in some form of control. Democrats want to control everything, Republicans only want to control 99% of everything.

Conservative Republicans only want to control 99% of everything. Why wouldn't a 1% clique of soft, spoiled, sheltered sissyboys want to control the 99% and force them to become welfare escapists or submissive pacifists? Real Americans outnumber the bloated gated-community weaklings 99 to 1 and could crush them like grapes if we stopped whining and started making wine.

Running things in Washington is expensive, Exo. Here is the list of donors to Obama's 2012 re-election...at a time when Member Exotix didn't care about money's influence on campaigns. Obama received more donations from Corporate America...and you voted for him. Just another oops in the long line of them for you, Herdmember.

When no more hands went up, Obama began circulating around the room, going table to table counterclockwise. At some past events, the president’s team would arrange for an empty chair to be at each table — “the Elijah chair,” as some donors call it — so that Obama would have a place to sit. But with the event oversubscribed, Obama stayed on his feet. He seemed affable, guests said, more willing to banter than usual. An aide lingered nearby, unobtrusively moving Obama along, while a photographer from the campaign took candid shots that would later be made available to the guests.
