That was a decent vid.
Playoffs are starting now, today was the end of the season.
Pens seeded #4, home ice so far.
Here's a great clip. Kasparitis was a little dude but he hit anything on the ice that moved. Pretty much ended Lindros' career:

Kasparitis. Sounds like a disease.
Spaghetti head was his nickname.
He used to coach youth hockey in the area, they had clips of him knocking those kids over teaching them how to hit on the ice.
Blackhawks are in......send any of those East Coast teams our way. Please!

I was watching the Chi/Det game yesterday, I forgot that Marion Hosa was a Blackhawk.
I don't know if you know the history of this guy, MMC but he joined the Pens a few years back - he wanted to win the cup. When that didn't happen, he left for Detroit, the same year the Pens beat the Red Wings for the cup.
Delicious irony.

Yep I am Cap.....and then He won his Ring with the Hawks.
Hawks ended up seated 6th. They have dominated all in their divison except Nashville and Most East Coast teams. Their problem has been Nashville and All the West Coast teams Except San Jose.
Hawks Weakness is in the Net. The two guys they have now are scrubs. Crawford and Emery. So they picked up a couple more defensive guys out to help out the goalies. Brought up the rookie Shaw. He is way more active than Kane. He will end up being like Toews. But faster and he likes to fight.
Captain Obvious

I don't know if you saw yesterdays Hawks game but they did something that I've never seen before but it made sense. Late in the 3rd they were tied and they pulled their goalie for all the win points, I guess they needed that extra point to get a better seeding.

I didn't get to see the game yesterday or even the final score. I didn't think it really mattered. But my son said that if they won and someone else lost they could have moved up to 5th. Hawks dominated the Red-Wings this season. Funny hawks dominate them and they Dominate Nashville, While Nashville dominates the Hawks. Hawks will need some help to make it to the semifinals.

GO HAWKS!
Hawks up 1 to nothing over Pheonix in the first period. I heard the Fyers came back and beat Pittsburgh.
Hawks lost in overtime.....plus it seems many of the playoff games went to overtime. But it was like I said before the Hawks are weak in goalie and just cannot score.

Yeah Almost Identical to the first game. Except with the Hawks getting the win this time. Did you see the other day when that L.A. Kings guy took his hand after punching the other guy in the back of the haed while on the boards. He then just palmed the back of the guys head and facesmached him right into the glass. Not once but like 3 times before the ref's jumped in on it. That dude should be suspended.

That was one of those things that jackass coach for NY said but I tend to agree with that one. Refs are calling the game to be close (ie: no penalties late in the game to send them into overtime).
I like hockey when the Pens are in the mix but at the end of the day, Lemieux was right - it's a fucking garage league.
Yeah.....once the hawks get knocked out. I will be done with it. Til next year, same bat-time, same bat-channel. If they were to make it, a whole bunch of people would have to be injured and not playing.

The Penguins are the only team I'm worried about this year, nonetheless I think the Rangers will keep their lead in the Atlantic E. Conference, hopefully by the end of the season they'll be hoisting the Stanley Cup over their heads.
 Wow.....Pittsburgh went on a tear last nite. 10-3. It was 9-3 at the end of the second period. Still the Refs were making some bogus calls. But I guess you can't really blame them after what went down with these guys last game. I think they had 38 penalty minutes all at the end of the game. I believe they go back to Pittsburgh now. Flyers up in the series 3-1.

I hate it but the Penguins look good this year - fuck the Flyers, all they do is try to bully their opposing teams - then they get their shit pushed in - then they whine about it afterward. What Laviolette needs to do is to get someone to teach his boys how to fight, I'd have more respect for them if they could hold their own if they're gonna try and bully other teams.

The Rangers tend to do well against the Bruins...
With that said, the Bruins did pull off an upset against the Rangers a few weeks ago at the Garden.
Hopefully the Rangers pull off a victory against Ottawa, if that happens the Rangers will more than likely have to deal with the Bruins, they get past the Bruins (which are incidentally, Red Sox and Patriots fans - the worst fans in the country) and that'll be more than enough as far as I'm concerned, they get to the Stanley Cup so much the better.
The Kings are leading Vancouver three to one, in the West - Vancouver is the team to beat right now...
I think a L.A. Kings/New York Rangers Stanley Cup playoff would be the best thing to happen to Hockey right now.

If I could catch one, I'd go to the Finnish vs Germany (national teams) games when I lived in Germany, very fluid - precise - with dynamic ever evolving formations hockey, the Finns seemed to excel at every facet of the game.
When I was a kid I used to often visit one of my uncles who lived in Minot, North Dakota - just about every time we'd make the trip to Winnipeg to mock the Jets fans when they played then lost to American teams, they were what I imagined all Red Sox fans to be like - arrogent even though the team they're rooting for is/was shitty...that said, the only time you'll catch me rooting for a Canadian team is when one is playing against the Bruins.
Still some of my favorite Hockey players are Canadians, Bobby Probert and Jimmy Mann were the epitome of what it meant to play in the NHL and whether or not I liked Mcsorely, I'd watch Kings games just because he was playing (rather, Mcsorely and Gretzky on the same team) - fortunately when he'd whacked Brashear he was a Bruin and that Brashear, who was half French Canadian himself made it all that much better, cup half full train of thought.

Yep, it was getting interesting.
Do or die for the Hawks tomorrow night. Shaw will be back. But I havent heard about Hossa. Hawks can't rely on that they are home, as the Phoenix Coyotes are the best Road team playing in these playoffs.
Conley
04-22-2012, 11:36 PM
I didn't think Hossa was coming back any time soon. Officially they're keeping quiet but from what I read he'd be out for a long time.
Kings won tonight, no one cares.
Who were they playing? Vancouver right? Shaw adds energy to the Hawks. Having him out these last 3 games and Hossa hurt the hawks pretty good. Still their power play sucks. I think they are like 1 for 39 or something like that.

It's looking like it's gonna be the Kings vs the Blues - and the Coyotes vs the Predators in the West...
Game six for the Rangers who're down one game against Ottawa is in progress at Ottawa and it looks as if Ottawa is up by one in the second period and the Caps are holding their own against the Bruins with game seven to be determined - the winners of each of these series will face off against each other...
To top it off, if it's gonna be the Panthers vs the Flyers then I think either the Rangers, Capitals, or the Bruins can beat the winner of this series.
Hawks getting ready to start at 8 my time.

Rangers pulled off a victory tonight fellas, the dream is still alive! Game seven is at the Garden...
Game seven for the Capitals vs Bruins is in Boston - I wanted to post more but I don't wanna jinx it, best to just keep my opinions to myself about otherwise Red Sox or Patriot fans.
Phoenix has scored..... 1-0 coming to the end of the second period. Power plays 1-19 for the series.
Phoenix scores in the 3rd up 2-0 now.

That stinks. Is Shaw doing anything?
Well he is putting on pressure. They have had their chances just can't put it in the net. Some good saves by Smith too. Turn out the Lights the Party's over. At least the Hawks won't have to travel to far to go home.

Well, the Hawks had their chances even before Hossa was taken out. Hard to win without a good goalie too.

Yessir - watch out Pete, the Caps will have to face the New York Rangers...which means that after the NY Jets 1st round draft pick - I might end up only being able to root for one team that'll make it to then into the playoffs this year - Quinton Kopels...the Jets 1st round shouldn't have went to a DE.

So far so good, everything seems to be working out - I'm appreciative that the Caps made those Bruins/Pats/Sox fans endure the burden of defeat at home - I think it'll be a good series between the Caps and the Rangers, admittedly there's some bias - but I think the Rangers will prevail.

Defenseman Green's slap shot on a power play with 5:48 left in regulation was the go-ahead goal, and Ovechkin and Backstrom scored Saturday, too, lifting the Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the top-seeded New York Rangers that tied their Eastern Conference semifinal series at two games apiece.

Looks like New Jersey is going to take out the Flyers tonight. They are up 2-1 now in the 2nd period. Could be New Jersey vs New York for the Eastern Finals.
VOORHEES, N.J. (AP) Claude Giroux has to watch Philadelphia's attempt at saving its postseason from the press box.
Giroux was suspended by the NHL on Monday for his illegal check to the head on New Jersey center Dainius Zubrus in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. The punishment leaves the Flyers without their All-Star forward and leading scorer as they try and rally from a 3-1 deficit.

Good luck with that MMC.
Update, Rangers up by one.
If not for the White Sox in '05 and the Bulls in '98 Chicago wouldn't have had anything to root for.
New York is a great sports town - they've both good teams and bad teams as well as quite a few will root for all of 'em, your spite and angst is proof positive enough to bring a smile to my face - even if the Rangers lose tonight it's no big deal, they've made it this far, further than the Bruins - and that's all that matters as far as I'm concerned - Chicago doesn't even factor into the equation.
Dont forget the Stanley Cup now in 2009. Can't forget the Hawks who have Always held a Winning Record over the NY Rangers.

I never Cheer for any NY Team unless they can affect something favorably for Chicago Teams. Football really sucked this year with NE and the Giants slipping in thru the back door due to Da Bears tanking. As if you recall Da Bears if they would have won that game with Den and KC. They would have knocked the NY scrubs out and they wouldnt even had a chance to make the playoffs.
Still 1-0 after the second.

In baseball all that matters is World Series championships - the Sox or the Cubs combined don't beat out the Yankees in that regard, and you're wrong about football - the Jets have bested the Bears more than the Bears besting the Jets - use Google if you have to, I may be wrong but I don't think so...
I'm not gonna discount the Caps, there's three periods of hockey and in this day and age in the playoffs, anything can happen - I won't be disappointed if the Caps pull it off - I won't like it, but I'll own it.

I'm not gonna spin it, I thought for sure the Jets had won more games and played more than seven times - are you sure they hadn't played more than seven times, that just doesn't seem right...(?)
We're still talking about three more Superbowl wins than the Bears - like World Series championships, that's really all that matters.
New York's got football and baseball wrapped up compared to Chicago for awhile using championships and superbowls as a standard, unless the Chicago teams start ingesting performance enhancing crackrocks that you can't test for for the next decade.
Like I said, you can keep basketball - and I'll give it to with the Blackhawks, I've always liked 'em as a kid - although the Rangers are the better team this year...I'd posted awhile back that it would be great if there were a L.A. Kings - NY Rangers Stanley Cup, and L.A. walked through St. Louis - I'm betting they'll do just as well against the Coyotes - You ask me, it's 50/50 whether or not NY can get past the Devils - it would be great for the sport of Hockey if they did though...

Yep thats all they have played. I thought more too. But since the Jets are AFC I can see why.
Lets not forget Da Bears Have the Most World Championships and a Superbowl. Moreover the only way they will ever be able to have any type of Dynasty thing they would have to change the way they dole out money. Which I doubt that will ever happen.
Yeah I am not a big basketball fan neither. Never was.
Yeah I think you are right as the Rangers are the Best Home Team in the Playoffs. Not sure about their season. Althought Phoenix is the best Road Team of the Season and the Playoffs. Either way it would be good for hockey for that matchup. Even tho the West Coast vs the East Coast would be viewed as the bigger matchup.

NY wins 3-0 in the first game of the Eastern Conference Championship.
I've gotta say that that first period looked a bit rough, the machine shop I'd used to use to make up one-off parts for certain jobs owner's son plays for the Devils, half the hockey stuff my kids have come from that kid (we'd lived at West Point at the time, even in housing at West Point - are hockey rinks at the park, very cool - anyway when that machine shop's kid was getting ready to go to Amherst - he would come over and work with my kids when they were younger, by the time he'd made it to Division 1 Hockey East and all his equipment was then free, my boys became the recipients of quite a few sticks, helmets, pads - more sticks and not the $100 Modell's or Dick's top of the line sticks but instead the carbon fiber graphite three and four hundred dollar sticks.) so right now it's a conundrum, I know my boys are rooting for the Devils, that game last night wasn't easy for 'em to watch...
Kings up 3-0 at the end of the second. Looks like they will their second game on the Road. They are way to strong for Phoenix.

Kovalchuck got Lundqvist's number on that goal - I sure hope the Rangers don't drag this series out to a seventh game as well, that's a whole lotta hockey, the Kings look like they're either gonna dominate every team that's in front of 'em.

I just can't take the Devils seriously but they looked a lot worse in their first series against Florida than they did against the Flyers. Then again in G1 they got schooled. Still think the Rangers will win this one.

Yep.....1-1 in the series. But to be honest with ya. I don't think either one will be able to deal with the Kings if they play like they did against the Coyotes. It just seemes like their games everything goes their way.

They do look very good, I can't deny it. I'm glad the road for PHX ends here.
Yeah, I don't think any team from the East will be ready for what the Kings have. Even all their passing just seems to fall into place.

Today is the game to see. Kings and Coyotes. Kings can take them out today. I got them playing 2pm Central Time on NBC.
Phoenix up 2-0 after the 2nd period.

Did they play yesterday? If so I missed the game then. I thought they were playing today. Which then must be the Kings game. We shall see if they can take Phoenix out.

How come you want the Kings to win tonight? The cheap shot on Hossa?

Thats would be like poetic justice.....huh. I think they are the better of the two teams. Win it, get some rest awaiting whoever comes out of the East. Rangers were Seated Number 1 right? Kings were 8th.

Yeah I don't think the Hawks would have won the whole thing anyway but teams can't be allowed to win series by cheapshotting the stars IMO. Then again this is a game for men. I just think there needs to be better protection.
Yeah the Hawks downfall was no Goalie and no offense.

Coyotes should win...they deserve it. The Kings vs NY will bring up TV revenue, but its not going to be jaw dropping hockey. But, I'm spoiled. I lived in Buffalo and Montreal during the 70's, and now get to watch the Canucks break hearts and hope every year.

The difference I see is that the Kings.....just like tonight, can score short-handed. Where the Coyotes have not been able to do so. I think there are more advantages going to the Kings in the match-up. Moreover the Kings have more players with speed than Phoenix. Even tho the Coyotes allegedly have the fastest guy on ice in the league.
Usually once the Hawks are out of it I really don't stay with it. Hows the Canucks doing in the World Cup now?

I don't think so to.....as you saw he was turning into the guy too. I was with Roenick on his assessment.

Didn't the Kings do it in 94 too?
New Jersey up 3-1 with 6 and half left in the first period. NY just scored. The Devils are going to town on them in this first period.
3-2 after the 2nd period.....New Jersey.
Well it was tied 3-3 with NY battling back. But then New Jersey scored and took the lead and now has scored again. 5-3 with only a few seconds left to play. Looks like the Devils will go up 3-2 in the Series.
Do or die for NY tonight.....game started no score.
