Equals one more talking point shot down. : ''A review of IRS spending by the Free Beacon shows the agency has spent a massive amount on what it labeled as IT/software and data processing contracts in the past five fiscal years. The official government¡¯s spending website shows the IRS spent $4.4 billion during this time period.'' : http://freebeacon.com/issues/irs-spent-4-4-billion-on-it/ : A billion dollars plus a year the last five years and, according to the IRS, they lost two years of emails from seven specfic persons. Riiiiiiiiiight.

Well, for whatever reasons Carlos' post are now invisable to me, welcome to tPF. Back to the IRS, would be nice to see the itemized accounting of how that 4B plus was spent.

In the IRS if a taxpayer is proved to be fraudulent, a 50% penalty can be added to the tax liability. They can charge interest, a penalty, and interest on the penalty. The best thing to do as a taxpayer, is to admit profound ignorance and stupidity rather than admit to fraud.

That is exactly what Lois Lerner and her band of merry men are doing. They are feigning stupidity, carelessness, basic dumbness with the "loss" of those emails. By doing so they save themselves from being criminally charged for withholding evidence.
