Devise an economic system that provides incentive to produce without the producers being able to secure obscene wealth and power. For example, would A-ROD have chosen to work in a mill if the most he could have made playing MLB was say 1,000,000.00 a year? Would the owners not be satisfied with profits of millions if profits of hundreds of millions were not available? Sort of Capitalism with an off switch . At the same time ban ALL money from campaigns.
Would it work? Could we do it?

Why would you want to keep people from being all that they can be.

Yeah, it's called Communism and has already been tried and failed miserably.

Better would be to get government out of the economy so the rich don't rent seek the powerful, not give government more power to rent seek.

Would it work? Better, I contend, than what we have.

I am all for not allowing corporations to fund politicians.

The current system benefits the privileged few who control our wealth and power, the system isn't changing.

Even though pro athletes are millionaires, they should be considered proletarians under this system. Their salaries are based on unionization, not on the parasitic privileges self-given to stockholders or holders of outright titles of ownership.

Then how would these poor people get elected?

The current system benefits the privileged few who control our wealth and power, the system isn't changing. That's what the soft, stupid, and far outnumbered plutes want us to think. They whistle in the dark hoping that the sun of economic democracy never rises.

Why would you want to keep people from being all that they can be? If people were indoctrinated to accept the status quo, successful wannabes would be called "shouldn'tabeens."

How about not allowing politicians to take bribes? Corporations are working within the law, according to SCOTUS, politicians are acting illegally. Yet everyone wants to bust the corporations. Too populist.

Because they then hijack the system and you get Paris Hilton instead of Thomas Edison. Think about the seat of American power: The Rockafellars, The Kennedys , The Bush's etc

That may have been true prior to the 16th amendment when politicians lobbied the rich but after which after which politicians got the upper hand forcing the rich to lobby them with rent seeking.

Well, by definition, communism is the promised land at the end of a tyrannical road called dictatorship of the proletariat.
