The Environmental Protection Agency (http://thepoliticalforums.com/topics/environmental-protection-agency/) has quietly floated a rule claiming authority to bypass the courts and unilaterally garnish paychecks of those accused of violating its rules, a powerhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#) currently used by agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service. The EPA (http://thepoliticalforums.com/topics/environmental-protection-agency/) has been flexing its regulatory muscle under President Obama, collecting more fines each year and hitting individuals with costly penalties for violating environmental rules, including recently slapping a $75,000 fine on Wyoming homeownerhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#) Andy Johnson for building a pond on his rural property.Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/jul/8/power-grab-epa-wants-to-garnish-wages-of-polluters/#ixzz36ybfrJpb

Good

So people should be fined just because the EPA says so? Shouldn't they have to prove this in court?

So Obvious, you support taking people's money without due process?

Would you feel the same if/when they do the same to you?

That is what happened to this man in Wyoming. He had all the correct permits to build a stock pond, but that wasn't good enough for the EPA. They still fined him, though so far he has refused to pay.

Sounds like another bitch slapping by the Supreme Court!

This one will be just about the time people are thinking about 2016 and of course the people that they do this to will sue the hell out of the and cost the government million and millions. But that is the Obama administration for you!

It does not sound like it, is sounds like they can say you are guilty and start taking money?

Due process is having a claim like this adjudicated in a court of law, not by some faceless power hungry bureaucrat.

Great then.

Don't bitch because unions are uber-powerful and political.

Can't have it both ways.

Where was the EPA when we had industries here polluted the air, water, and ground to fine them?

Where was the EPA when we had industries here polluted the air, water, and ground to fine them?

Exactly, like in WV where miners died and the rivers and streams haven't born life for decades.

Coal companies just ignored the EPA who was virtually impotent against them - or they just paid the minimalist fines.

Everyone bitched that the EPA had no teeth.

Now they bitch because they got some.

Pissing and whining for the sake of pissing and whining, aka fauxrage.

Fail!

Captain Obvious

Next they'll piss and whine that coal industry unions are getting stronger.

Gee, wonder why.

Fucking dimwits.

Congress has oversight of the EPA and its regulations. Write Congress and tell them to do their job...any job.

I don't think that anyone is saying that the EPA should ignore violaters, simply that they should have to proof their case legally and not simply make a decision without allowing the company or person being accused of proving their innocence.

That is not it. I think you simply feel the need to take up the opposing opinion regardless of the subject.

If I said water was wet, you would argue that as well.

Too bad you can't actually have a serious discussion. You seem intelligent, but you waste your efforts with snarky remarks.

Come back when you grow up a bit more.
