House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Americans should be afraid of the Supreme Court after it ruled that some employers can elect not to offer birth control as part of company health care coverage if they have religious objections.
“We should be afraid about this court … five men can decide if a woman can use a diaphragm,” Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday during her weekly news conference at the Capitol

Pelosi's comments sound sexist. So is gender always an issue for her or only when she disagree with someone's decision?

Well, she's not wrong, Americans SHOULD fear the Supreme Court and the unchecked power they wield. However, her reasoning is stupid.

Wow twice today I agree with you. In defense of this supreme court, its no different than any other. Its gone back and forth who has the majority. Conservatives or Liberal and they vote accordingly. I hope in this day and age no one is naive enough to believe Scotus rulings follow the law. They follow political persuasions thats how you get 5-4 votes strictly along party lines. They do vote honestly at times, follow the law, I personally think that is not their main consideration many times.

Crazy Pelosi speaks again. She says we should be afraid when five men can decide if a woman can use a diaphragm. That is a totally false statement. The decision was employers can not be forced to pay for it. No one is saying women can't use them. But I would like to ask Pelosi this, "why then are you supporting the SCOTUS ruling in favor of the ACA, which forces ALL OF US to comply with government mandates under fear of a penalty." She was OK with that ruling. She is apparently also OK with the SCOTUS ruling in January of 1973, Roe v Wade, where 9 men decided what a woman could legally do with her pregnancy. She's fine with that all male decision. She's a partisan hack. The words coming from her mouth make as much sense as dumping SCRABBLE letters on the floor and trying to read them. Partisan, divisive gibberish.

Pfft. I'm a male and I say use all the diaphragms you want. Just don't expect me to pay for them. ;)

Which is the basis of the conservative argument. For some reason, liberals cannot understand this. I don't care what form of birth control you use either, but you should pay for it yourself.

You want a company to stay out of your personal life, than take responsibility for it yourself.

I was glad to hear the right wing conservatives cheered our SCOTUS, but they all agreed, 'they better never touch our Viagra,' without it right wingers would lose their only sign of manhood, a Hard-On. Without that what would they be, oh what would they be....

This just in: '75 percent of lesbian women enjoy sex every time. Women, who sleep with right wingers only enjoy sex 2 percent of the time. Since losing contraceptive means, sex now requires thermometers and calendars and careful timing making the whole act rather stressful. In other news, dildo sales continue to rise in red state topping sales for the tenth year in a row. (Female National Right Wing Survey 2014)

Great point. If you allow your employer to cover your birth control, a very personal issue, what's to stop that from developing into a full blown control of your personal life. Keep the government and employer out of our personal lives.
