Leading Republican Congressional Candidate Is A Birther: ‘There’s No Question President Obama’s Hiding Something’ (http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/04/19/467914/richard-hudson-birther/)

http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/richard-hudson-200x300.jpg (http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/richard-hudson.jpg)NC-8 candidate Richard Hudson (R)

Like Sisyphus and his boulder, the task of convincing skeptical Republicans that President Obama is indeed an American citizen is a daily struggle.

A full year after Obama released his birth certificate (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2011/04/27/president-obamas-long-form-birth-certificate), a significant number of Republican officials across the country still are unable to disavow themselves of the notion that the president was not born in this country.

This week, a leading Republican candidate in one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country revealed himself as the newest member of the birther club. Richard Hudson, a former congressional chief of staff, told a Tea Party in Salisbury on Tuesday that “there’s no question President Obama’s hiding something on his citizenship.” Hudson, “the frontrunner for the GOP nomination” in North Carolina’s 8th congressional district according to Roll Call (http://atr.rollcall.com/is-larry-kissell-opponent-richard-hudson-a-birther/), also pledged that if elected he would introduce legislation “that requires any candidate for president or vice president to be certified by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as being a citizen.”

HUDSON: There’s no question President Obama’s hiding something on his citizenship. If you elect me to Congress to represent you, I’ll introduce legislation that requires any candidate for president or vice president to be certified by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as being a citizen. Whether that’s a birth certificate or whatever it means, I’m going to make real simple from now on if you want to run for president, you’re need to know you’re going to have to prove you’re a citizen.

where do these ppl come from?? can't you find something better to campaign on??
I got major probs with Obama - his birthplace is not one of them.
I can't believe there are adults ( much less candidates) who "cling to the birtherness"

Republican bigots need made-up shit to run on because most of what Obama has done is favorable to the Republicans in principle.

That's why I continue to stand by the fact that those who help spread the 'socialist', 'marxist', 'secret muslim', 'birther', 'anti-American' and all the rest of the horseshit memes - they are either stupid, or they're bigots. There is no other excuse for believing such crap, given the toothless centrism demonstrated by Obama thus far.

I have plenty of issues with BO and his policies but I always found the whole birther thing pretty pathetic.

Gotta give the guy some credit, when he cock-punched the Donald and pretty much kicked his ass out of the political arena, you would think that would have shut the birther crowd up but it just goes to prove one thing. Idiots will stand by whatever they can grasp onto regardless of it's potential accuracy - because they're idiots, shallow, without wit and without anything else of substance to work with.

There's plenty of shit to knock BO on, you don't need to manufacture it and make a complete ass out of yourself in the process. It's self-defeating.

Good points. There is plenty to hold BO accountable for. Things are worse than they're telling us.

Not so sure of that CO. All his records are clamped tighter than dada's box. Why is that, and in the end it is not the birthers thing, it is a constitutional issue. I could care less if he was born here or not. Thing is he is not a natural born citizen, his pappy was not a citizen. Therefore he is not a legal president. It takes many hours of your time but if you read and check out the links you will see.

Yeah, I'm not reading that bullshit because that and a quarter wouldn't get anyone a fucking flat draft beer in Cleveland.

There's nothing I love more than wasting my time on dumb fucking bullshit but birther garbage isn't on my list.

Same as others do, There are court cases going back to the days of settlement. Why won't you read or check out your founding fathers views on citizenship. You read read this crap here every day, don't you? It's not worth an hour a day to find out actual SCOTUS rulings about if our president is legal

OK, whatever you think. Hope you don't vote that way too.

Read and inform yourself, I can help you no more than what i have.

Mostly because I really don't give a shit about our founding fathers view of citizenship.

How does citizenship make anyone less or more qualified to be POTUS?

The non textbook answer is what I'm looking for also, put your thinking cap on.

If you can convince me that a "natural born" US citizen is less likely to be just another bought-and-paid-for corporate and special interest whore who honestly, in good faith and conscious represents the will of the people and works for the betterment of the country, then you have my ear.

Good luck with that.

It's all a fucking waste of time.

How about a simple analogy? In the true sense of Natural born, it is meant to be of the fact that you were born here of parents who were born here. With that background you would be part of society. The two tiered system of natural born IE means you are loyal to the country.... There is more background, but I'm not going to post the entire thing bit by bit if you won't take the time to read it and see what is going on. I'll give you some tools but you have to use them.
