"To me, it honestly feels like they don't want me to have the belt,” Evans said. “That could just be my paranoid mind thinking, and it probably is. They're probably just indifferent to the whole thing, but in my mind I feel like they're like, 'Oh man, we don't want this dude to be champion. We don't want him to be champion.'”

Evans backed off that statement a bit in its aftermath, saying it was just an effort to psyche himself up for the biggest fight of his life. Let’s be honest, though: If it turned out that secretly, deep down Evans really did believe the UFC would rather have Jones as its 205-pound titlist, we’d understand, right? After all, it’s Jones standing next to Dana White in that Bud Light ad, not Evans. It’s Jones who has his own signature line of UFC apparel, who smiles confidently at us from the front page of the UFC’s official store this week.

Evans has historically had a rocky relationship with UFC brass, and though his evolution as a fighter has been downright remarkable, nobody is saying he’s the future. Nobody's jumping the gun with rampant speculation about how he’ll fare as a heavyweight once he cleans out the 205-pound division.

If the rest of us have had more than a year to watch his rivalry with Jones grow stale, Evans has had a year to wallow in it. After all the talk and talk shows, after the backstabbing and the beer commercials, he doesn’t have to carry the weight of our expectations, nor does he get to enjoy our fawning reviews of his every move. He doesn’t have a $150 tracksuit with his name on it. He’s not “getting real close” to a deal with “a major shoe company.”

It's been a while since I've watched UFC but I think this could be a good one.

I don't really get into watching them. As I explained to ya before. I think that was back when you were saying Frank Dux was a fake. Plus didn't Evans just star in a movie? If he did do you think he will be ready for the fight?

No, that's Rampage Jackson. Evans is a fighter.

Oh I thought he did one of those B grade movies to. Do they have a difference with HeavyWeight and SuperHeavy.

Maybe so...only movie I know of is the A-Team with Rampage.

UFC has a 205 and 235+ division if memory serves.

I notice they don't have to many in that Super Heavy Weight Division. Althought most NFL linebackers weigh around 245-265.

This fight has turned into a pretty good rivalry. Jones trained w/Evans, and they made it look as if they didn't want to fight when Jones was kicking ass on his way to the top of the heap.

Dana (shithead) White laughed at the thought of comaraderie trumping earnings potential, and now the fight is on.

Whereas there isn't any true animosity, as there was between Jackson/Evans, this has turned into a pretty good backstory.

Evan looks better than he's looked in a long time. So far, nobody can touch Jones.

This one will be interesting.

Yep, I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to look around online and see if I can find a link otherwise I'll probably watch it tomorrow. Bones is a huge favorite but I'm hoping it goes in Evans' favor or at least is close.

Yeah, 265 is the cut off for UFC I think, other MMA goes higher.

I always try to keep myself in the dark on the outcome but I usually can't make it past Sunday AM without accidentally seeing the results online. I used to be a lot more into the UFC but lately I sort of lost interest. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the whole Overeem steroids deal.

I totally missed the steroids thing. Now I have to call my friend who knows all the poop.

Yeah, it stinks. I guess everyone knows a lot of people juice in the UFC. Overeem always had that rep before he came on board and apparently was too stupid to avoid the positive test. His explosion in weight and muscle makes it fairly obvious but now Dana can't pretend he's clean. He was to fight Dos Santos in what would have been a great fight, now I'm not sure what they'll do.

No chin...they had his number in the UFC. Granted, diverticulitis is a bitch.

WWE is where he belongs. Did he have an ugly breakup? don't really remember why he left but it wasn't on good graces .. let me see if I can google the reasons brb

Yeah, I didn't think he was that good before the diverticulitis but he was able to take advantage of a weak division at the time. Beating up on Frank Mir and an ancient Randy Couture wasn't that impressive to me. Velasquez absolutely destroyed him, and I think Dos Santos and Overeem would do the same.

Behind the scenes, it was widely known that the match would be Goldberg's last in WWE.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-50)] Only a week before Wrestlemania, however, rumors surfaced that Lesnar, too, was leaving in order to pursue a career in the National Football League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League).[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] As a result, Lesnar's match with Goldberg became a fiasco as the fans at Madison Square Garden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_Square_Garden) jeered and heckled both wrestlers vociferously.[52] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-PowellWMXX-51) Goldberg gained victory after delivering a spear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spear_(wrestling)) to Lesnar and both men subsequently received Stone Cold Stunners (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stunner_(professional_wrestling)) from Austin.[52] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-PowellWMXX-51)

Lesnar had previously signed a no-compete clause in order to be released from his contract with WWE, which prohibited him from working for any other sports entertainment or mixed martial arts companies before June 2010. Lesnar had anticipated leaving wrestling entirely, but his inability to secure a career in professional football led to him challenging this ruling in court.[60] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-59) WWE responded by demanding damages as a result of Lesnar allegedly breaching the agreement by appearing at a New Japan Pro Wrestling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Japan_Pro_Wrestling) show in 2004.[61] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-60) In July 2005, the two sides dropped their claims and entered negotiations to renew their relationship.[62] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-61) WWE had offered Lesnar a contract, but on August 2, 2005, WWE's official website reported that Lesnar had withdrawn from any involvement with the company.[63] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-62) The lawsuit was then entered into settlement on September 21, but talks broke down.[64] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-63)[65] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-64)
On January 14, 2006, Judge Christopher Droney stated that unless WWE gave him a good argument between then and January 25, he would rule in favor of Brock Lesnar, giving him a summary judgment. This would have enabled Lesnar to work anywhere he wanted immediately.[66] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-65) WWE was later granted a deadline postponement.[67] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-66) On April 24, World Wrestling Entertainment announced on their official website, WWE.com, that both parties had mutually come to a settlement and on June 12, a federal judge dismissed Lesnar's lawsuit against WWE after both parties requested for the case to be dismissed.[68] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Lesnar#cite_note-67)
