SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Yemen's deposed leader says the Arab Spring revolts that swept the region last year brought "destruction" to the nations in which they took place.

Saleh also criticized what he said was "biased" implementation of the power-transfer deal that saw him step down in February, and said it could ignite a new crisis. This was an apparent response to new President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi's moves to purge the security forces of the ex-leader's loyalists.....snip~

Looks like our former puppet is speaking out. He is upset that Obama told him to step down. He should be happy as Obama gave him 100% complete amnesty from Prosecution for War-Crimes. He still has to watch what he says as he wants to come to the US for the rest of medical treatment. Doesn't say if he was in Yemen. Although, the last time they had mentioned he had fled the country.

Seriously, he should be thankful for the state he's in. Other leaders removed in the Arab Spring didn't fare nearly as well.

I don't think he is in Yemen. As they tried to kill him once already. Still he knows how much it has costed the Yemenis. Plus he was guilty of the war crimes.

Yeah, why would he stay there? Not worth the risk...there are nicer places he can go, especially with the money he stashed away.

Of course he's got sour grapes, he's been rejected.

Yesterday's chopped liver.

They were worried he was going to pull a Shah of Iran deal. Come here for medical treatment then seek asylum. As some people want this guy taken out not only for what he was doing to his country and his own people. But for some of those shady buisness dealings as well.

Obama didn't say to much about him after they tried to kill him. When they were showing how burnt up he was from the one attack they got off on him. Thing there was.....it wasn't AQ.

Most ideally, a steady transfer from Authoritarian to Democracy like Taiwan had is surely by far the most ideal, but you can't have the most ideal situation all the time of course. and even Taiwan had quite a bit of protest back in the days...

As for the Arab spring, it's a mix of many issue and very complicated, also one need to look at the individual countries seperately, almost all of them are different cases, it's too easy to lump them together but in the end what happened in Tunisia is not the same as what happened in Yemen or Libya.

In terms of Libya and Yemen, good ole ancient tribalism was far more responsible than any sort of desire for democracy.. while in Egypt and Tunisia, the simple disastorous economy and the state of the society was the biggest reason, Tunisia seem to be turning out better than Egypt though... authoritarian regimes can only be justified through something... in modern times it's usually because they'er doing a relatively good job in advancing the country's developement (see China) . or if they create enough of a boggy man to scare people in (North Korea's probably the most ridiculas example)

As for Saleh... well what did you expect him to say? like other's have pointed out though Obama at least didn't throw him to the wolfs or something.. he's still alive and talking... same can't be said for Ole Hosny (who's technically alive I guess.)
