In New Hampshire, Republicans Make Sen. Shaheen’s Lack Of Town Halls An Issue

12:49 PM 08/13/2014

Alex Pappas | Political Reporter

No state knows town hall meetings like New Hampshire.

On its website, the New Hampshire Republican Party launched a countdown clock noting the last time Shaheen held a town hall (714 days, 21 hours, 29 minutes, 54 seconds at the time this was written Wednesday).

And now, the New Hampshire GOP is sending a staffer dressed in a chicken suit to a Shaheen event holding the sign: “Jeanne Shaheen Too Chicken For Town Halls.”

Ironically, while Shaheen isn’t holding town halls of her own, her supporters are attempting to crash Brown’s voter gatherings to ask the Republican questions about his campaign.

Nothing like roll up your sleeves hit 'em where it hurts politics. I guess Ms. Shaheen doesn't want to talk to the people about Obama Care much.

Jeanne Shaheen Suports ObamaCare In New Hampshire, Where 11,446 People Signed Up For ObamaCare And 22,000 Received Cancellation Notices (http://www.gop.com/news/research/obamacare-enrollments-still-dwarfed-by-cancellation-notices-in-2014-states/)

Here's what she had to say about Obama Care..........

SEN. JEANNE SHAHEEN (D-N.H.): ‘if you have health coverage that you like, you get to keep it’ “My understanding … is that … if you have health coverage that you like you can keep it. As I said, you may have missed my remarks at the beginning of the call, but one of the things I that I said as a requirement that I have for supporting a bill is that if you have health coverage that you like you should be able to keep that. …under every scenario that I’ve seen, if you have health coverage that you like, you get to keep it.” (Sen. Shaheen, “Health Care Questions From Across New Hampshire,” (http://www.shaheen.senate.gov/priorities/issues/issue/healthcareanswers/) Accessed 11/13/13)

Little wonder why it's been 714 days since her last town hall. She said and I quote "under every scenario that I’ve seen, if you have health coverage that you like, you get to keep it.". Really? I guess Senator Shaheen doesn't want to answer to those 22,000 people who had their health insurance they liked cancelled after she told them it wasn't going to happen. Citizens need to ask their Obama Care supporting Senators if they will lose their company sponsored health insurance plans next year when the Employer Mandate kicks in. Ya'all will find out soon enough. Open enrollment usually starts in September or October in most companies. Employees will get the bad news in that time frame so they can shop for an Obama Care plan before the Obama Care open enrollment starts in November.

I can tell you first hand, Obama Care sucks. I waited till the end of March to sign up for Obama Care, I had no choice. So I purchased an Obama Care plan. I live in the mountains and 45 miles from the flatlanders cities. We have a modest Hospital and three medical groups in the area, one large and two small. I checked and double checked to make sure the plan I chose was good at the Hospital AND the large medical group (more choices). From April first till July, I've been paying my premium and decided the system must have settled down by now and made an appointment with the Big Medical Group. I met with the financial counselor, gave him all my insurance and personal info. He made an appointment for me with a doctor accepting new patients. The day of the appointment, I showed up with a bag of meds and vitamins in one hand and and the health history toilet paper form in the other. I was shown the door because as of 3 days before they no longer "in network" with the plan I bought. The local Hospital accepts my plan but since 100% of the doctors that practice there and bill separately don't. If I was hospitalized in my local hospital, my Obama care insurance would cover the hospital cost, but I'd have to pay 50%+ of the doctors bill as they are "out of network". In order to switch to another plan I'll have to wait till November open enrollment and January 1st to use it while paying premiums on a plan I really can't use. The next closest Hospital 45 miles away presents the exact same circumstances.

If your employer dumps you into the exchanges and you think how bad can it be? You don't know even the half of it. Obama Care is a slow acting poison for the middle class.

The sad thing about politics in my home state of 'live free or die' N.H. is that so many liberals crossed the border from Massachusetts to live in tax free N.H. that the ultra liberal Shaheen is most likely going to beat out Scott Brown. Libs in that state like any other leftie state just don't care that leftist policies are killing our nation.

Granted, Brown is a Rino, but like Ann Coulter and I have been saying......."there are some bad Republicans in congress these daze that are bad some of the time, but all of the democrats in congress are bad all of the time. You first need to have Republicans take over the Senate so that they control both Houses, and then get a Republican potus before you can even contemplate fixing all the bad policy these socialists have given us these past 6 years. If it were up to you and other apathetic fence sitters--the libs would control all of congress and the presidency for time immemorial simply for your refusal to vote Republican.

No doubt since N.H. like the rest of New England turned into turncoat blue states. Having said that and having agreed with you that Brown will lose, do you have any support for Shaheen and her love of obamacare and her ultra leftist policies in general?

a bunch of people from mass moved there because they were sick of the dems in mass.

southern nh is basically a suburb of boston

why they choose to elect dems is a mystery to me, but as long as you pledge not to back a state income or sales tax, you've got a shot at getting elected

That no state INCOME tax is full of shit, I found that out first hand.

I have a lot of wheels in my encampment. Moved to NH a while back. Registering my 3 cars and trailer in PA cost me less than a hundred maybe. Give or take.

In NH I had no income tax but come time to register my vehicles there - three fucking grand.

Yeah, no tax.

Yeah, no tax.

yeah, it is a load of shit, but politically you go down in flames if you suggest changing it

the property taxes are outrageous and as you found out, the *fees* will break your heart.

the no sales tax is real though. any time i have to make a purchase over $100, i think about going north.

i usually don't, because i'm lazy, but if it's $500 or more, it's a no brainer

When I was there I rented a place. A big old house up on the hill, 1k a month basically. 4 bedroom, 2 bath, no garage. It suited, but I didn't directly pay tax.

I really didn't notice the no sales tax thing since in Conway, a resort town everything was 20% more expensive because of the setting, especially eating out which I couldn't do for less than a benny (had wings today at the local redneck shithole - 22 bucks including a six pack or so of beer).

The photo I posted in another thread of my homebrewing thingy was in that house.

My 4X4 that I mentioned earlier in another thread, bought that in Wiscasset ME. I think I paid tax on it though but I couldn't pull the deal I got there in NH, not by a longshot. The local car dealers there were dicks. My wifes Sorento came from Portland ME also.

Yeah, no tax.

It's better in Tennessee. No state income tax, and fees like that are super cheap. Only thing that gets kinda high is sales tax, but that's only 7%.

Here in Sevier County Tennessee our sales tax is 9.75%. That hurts on the food shopping and car buying. Our property taxes have doubled in 7 years.

Oh, well if you add in the local sales tax ours is about 9.25%. I'm poor though and I don't really notice it that much. But then, I'm from Taxifornia, where my paycheck was miniscule after taxes ON TOP OF sales and other taxes, so.

Well its quite obvious that brain dead democrats don't think about the consequences of voting for someone that supports the obamacare monstrosity. That's why I've said Scott Brown will lose his bid to become senator of N.H. since the over preponderance of voters in N.H. are now registered clueless dems.

That will depend on how many companies dump their employees or the employees families into the exchanges. I have a very strong feeling many employers will simply dump the family coverage and just cover the employee like UPS did last year. Those notifications will go out to employees in September or October leaving a real bad taste in voters mouths just in time for Nov 4th.

In California a person making $40K to $50K per year pays 8% state income tax over $50K it's 9.3%. Sales tax is 8.75%, a vehicle license fee as well as a vehicle registration fee. If I didn't own my home free and clear, I'd be long gone from this stupid ass liberal state.

NY State is similar.

I still own a home near the NY State border. We don't shop there, or avoid shopping there like the plague. Gas is usually a quarter to .50 more a gallon, tobacco and beer - yeah, few bucks more a case, sales taxes are a couple percent higher.

They can keep it.
