The transfer of 5 GITMO detainees violated US law (http://www.gao.gov/products/B-326013#mt=e-report), the Government Accountability Office rules.

President Obama ordered the DoD to transfer 5 prisoners from GITMO to Qatar, in exchange for the release of a US prisoner held by the Taliban. DoD did not properly notify Congress and violated the law by transferring these prisoners.

As explained below, we conclude that DOD violated section 8111 because it did not notify the relevant congressional committees at least 30 days in advance of the transfer. In addition, because DOD used appropriated funds to carry out the transfer when no money was available for that purpose, DOD violated the Antideficiency Act. The Antideficiency Act prohibits federal agencies from incurring obligations exceeding an amount available in an appropriation. 31 U.S.C. § 1341(a).

I expect that our lawless administration could care less.

Just close GITMO.

Only if we can drop the remaining detainees to the destination of their choice - at 30,000 feet.

We don't want them to die from lack of oxygen. That would be cruel.

I betting the last thing a Constitutional Lawyer and Law Professor is worried about, is the legal advice the GOP is getting. :smiley_ROFLMAO:

President Obama has been spitting in the Eye of The GOP for more than 6 years, haven't that got the clue yet.

Your Commander and Chief said he will be closing Gitmo in his first 100 days. So lets wait and see if he can get it done.

Like the 15 year olds denied any due process whatsoever?
