The laws are classified. Those classifications have years attached with them. However, it never happens. In Virginia a Misdemeanor carries up to a year in prison. Not having a dog license carries up to a year in prison technically but will you go to jail for a year for not having a dog license?

Your article said that he did this on private church property and not a park (see bottom of article). So the story was wrong to begin with. It was also wrong to say that they called for a 2 year jail term when the church said they refuse to press charges.

This is yellow journalism because we all know this person will not get 2 years for that offense. It's meant to exacerbate the situation and create a sensation on their website so more people will look at their video ads.

It is also important to note that these laws were not lobbied for by Christian groups but by Jewish groups who for years had their religious worship sites desecrated and defamed by others. So there's strike two for the anti-Christian hysteria.
