Mitt Romney slammed President Obama over a new labor report Friday that found the economy had added just 115,000 jobs last month, suggesting the country's 8.1 percent unemployment is "not a cause for celebration."

"Just this morning there was some news that came across the wire that said that the unemployment rate has dropped to 8.1 percent and normally that would be cause for celebration, but, in fact, anything over 8 percent, anything near 8 percent anything over 4 percent is not cause for celebration," Romney declared.

But Romney's embrace of the 4 percent metric could be problematic. The last time the country's unemployment rate was that low was in December 2000.

But that's not the only benchmark Romney set today. In an interview on Fox News, Romney suggested the country should be seeing a growth of 500,000 jobs per month—nearly four times the job growth numbers the country experienced last month.

But as the New York Times' Peter Baker points out (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=Asd7bR5W4IhSzHkDOMdIECCbCMZ_;_ylu=X3oDMTFoNjR mYmZuBG1pdANCbG9nIEJvZHkEcG9zAzEEc2VjA01lZGlhQmxvZ 0JvZHlUZW1wQXNzZW1ibHk-;_ylg=X3oDMTM2aWN2cDFtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRw c3RhaWQDY2U2YTRhNTktMjZiYi0zZDdjLTgzOGItZmQ4OGRlYz NiYTg5BHBzdGNhdANvcmlnaW5hbHN8dGhldGlja2V0BHB0A3N0 b3J5cGFnZQ--;_ylv=0/SIG=13kotiha3/EXP=1337368372/**http%3A//thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/04/romney-may-come-to-regret-comment-on-job-creation/), the country has met that level of job creation in a single month just five times in the last 50 years—including just once each under Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.....snip~

Now who's Feeding everyone a Whopper? 500k jobs......just where will he pull this rabbit out of his hat? Granted he should be attacking Obama over the numbers. But making promises he can't keep. Makes him look all the more transparent.

He is just as big of an idiot as obammy. We are doomed and there is no way around it no matter who wins this chicken shit election. There is no difference between the two of them.

Not to mention.....Romney will take us to Iran. His Foreign policy is so over-loaded with Neo-Cons, it's down right scary.

Obama is more sand than black, his problem is who he wants to defend/befriend. The terrorist or the people, he was forced into taking out Bin Laden. How many days did it take him to decide if he wanted to do it or not?

just curious here but just how many of those 115 K jobs were overseas? you know American companies like GE hiring people overseas and still counts as a job.

And Romney has hired a lot of Bush Jr's economic team. So that is another disaster.

The real significance is that another half million stopped looking for work--dropped out of the work force. The unemployment number doesn't reflect that, it is pure BS.

Agreed, you notice that the unemployment rate has be consistent for the past three years. Now all of a sudden it makes a drop? Only a idiot would fall for it. There is a wide liberal base out there though.

I can see it now.

Romney wins the election and within a year creates a shitload of jobs - and every libtard on the planet will say it was really BO that did it.

And if he doesn't, does the whole "blame booooooosh" thing go away?

Either way.....I doubt Romney will be able to create 500k jobs and take us back down to a 4% rate.

Hah - righties are turning on him already, that didn't take long.

I read a headline the other week "Romney's winning over the conservative crowd".

Lies... all lies.

Well thats because the Neo Cons make up most of Romneys Team. Both Foreign and Economic Policies. Plus now Perkins and the heritage Foundation will support Romney to try and knock Obama out of Office.

People who pay attention know that Romney is Obama all over again. Probably put us in Syria just like Obama, I would have rather had Paul. At least with him you know what you are getting.

The GOP screwed the pooch on this one, I've never backed Romney, never will.

I am not voting for him. I can't vote on the basis of DO IT.....just to get Obama out of Office. So that the next one stepping up will be another Ewe with different colored Wool.

Also another pattern I have noticed. Even while all look to the arguments of domestic policy and foreign policy. Both sides are lock step in barrel of expanding the powers of the Presidency. Both sides seem to be assiting each other with more additions or add ons to powers they expand. Including with the terminology, so as to get around the Constitution. For several decades we have seen Congress being pushed to the bottom rung of the ladder while the Presidency and the Judical branch have inceased their powers.....exponentially.

This must stop. As well as Attorneys being chosen as leaders of the Country.

With everything in place and functioning properly, and the war ended, this can be possible for a period of time. There will always be those who don't want to work though. Business will offer more opportunity if it is allowed to. They are there to make a profit just as the worker is there for a paycheck. If congress will not strangle business they will flourish and jobs will be plentiful.
