(CNN) -- A 10-nation group the Obama administration has gathered to fight ISIS could help, but more important will be the nations that surround the Islamist militant group's self-declared "caliphate," experts say.

After meetings at last week's NATO Summit, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke of a newly formed "core coalition." President Barack Obama said it would take on ISIS (http://thelead.blogs.cnn.com/2014/09/05/menendez-on-russia-in-ukraine-use-whatever-euphemism-you-want-to-me-its-an-invasion/). The nations are Australia, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Turkey, in addition to the United States. In red said nope or hoooold on a minute we are not involved.

Germany - The German government has announced it will supply weapons to the new Iraq (http://thepoliticalforums.com/iraq/)i government to help the country fight the threat from Isis (Islamic State) militants, including 20 former German soldiers who have joined the terrorist movement.

Britian - Said no, but are reconsidering. Maybe the Brit killed tonight will change it.

France - Will send weapons.

Here is the "coalition" summary from Kerry:

Kerry acknowledged that not all countries in the coalition would be comfortable directly supporting military actions. "Everybody can do something," he said. "People can contribute either ammunition or weapons or technical know-how or intel capacity."

Dumb speech by Obama announcing a coalition. I would say his speech to win the news cycle was about 2 weeks to soon. Should have waited and completed this plan. As a matter of fact he chould have come on two weeks later and said bombing has started.

People are in no hurry to help a half in guy.

If McCain or Romney were president, the coalition would consist of the US and Puerto Rico - that is, if they hadn't started WWIII yet.

Nobody is interested in helping because US foreign policy is a big fat joke, and it will continue to be a big fat joke as long neocon lunatics like McCain, Graham, King, Cheney, and Bolton are given a seat at the table. These disgusting piles of crap need to be sent to the retirement home before they squander every last bit of international good will we have left on their interventionist folly and hubris.

Why not just forget about "strategy" and send "Al Qaeda John" McCain to go talk to IS? He has had dinner with them before in Syria, why not again? Maybe he can convince them over some beers and more selfies to back off.

What should our foreign policy be? To become strict isolationist? That went out with Woodrow Wilson.

So, tell us, if McCain et al are dopes and know nothings just what should we do?

I and other like-minded posters have posted our plan several times.

I'm done addressing the hackneyed false dichotomy between isolationism and imperialism. If you cannot think of anything in between "do nothing" and "world police" then that is your problem.

Well that's what this coalition consists of...

Worth repeating:

And yet anyone who does not see the world the way you see it is called a neocon.

so you're not a great example of applied nuance either.

For now, we are caught between a rock and a hard place (Iraq and a hard place) Political people and the US Voters..do not want boots on the ground, think ISIS is dreadfull but Iraq is a quagmire we are glad to have escaped. Problem is that nobody wants to be the boots so far. We have a tough job leading a reluctant coalition..when we are reluctant.

Ironically.. we have an univited (by us) ally in Iran who's helping the mostly Shiite Bagdad govt. That is limiting how far South Isis can move. We are getting good co-operation, as usual..from the Krds who likely can regain control of most of their zone. Jordan figures to defend it's borders and if the can't..Isreal says they will. The PROBLEM is we'd hope some SUNNI group on the ground roots ISIS out of that Sunni region.. and I doubt the Shiite/Bagdad govt will or the Kurds want to fight for a region not their space.

What's it look like in a month? two months? Will Turkey or Saudi Arabi or maybe Egypt step up get some sense of urgency? Will the US revise it's stand...have "some boots"? Can Jordan become a key player..since ISIS is literally in their back yard now. I suspect that to get Jordan to act..we may need to put in SOME US ground force...and perhaps some Apache helicopters too. If we got Jordan in the game..that could motivate the Saudis, Egypt or ? to add some forces.

ISIS is holding about 40 Turks they captured at a consulate in Mosul..using them as human shields. So.. Turkey is staying out of it...for now. I'd bet it has Turkey pissed off though. ISIS is reckless as well as psycho..and that's gonna be a big problem.

Retirement home? They need to be prosecuted.
