Colorado U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn said that “behind the scenes” he and other Republican members of Congress were encouraging military officers to resign in protest over President Obama’s foreign policy.

Lamborn sits on the House Armed Services Committee.

“[L]et me reassure you on this,” Lamborn told a small gathering of so-called liberty voters in Colorado Springs on Tuesday.

“A lot of us are talking to the generals behind the scenes, saying, ‘Hey, if you disagree with the policy that the White House has given you, let’s have a resignation.’
“You know, let’s have a pubic resignation, and state your protest, and go out in a blaze of glory.

I haven’t seen that very much.
In fact, I haven’t seen that at all in years.”

I don't suppose he is willing to resign in protest?

Maybe this thread can be made serious. Here is a credible source (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://ricks.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2014/09/26/is_it_time_for_general_dempsey_to_resign) advocating for senior generals to at least privately threaten resignation.

General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, knows that the Obama strategy for dealing with the self-proclaimed Islamic State is doomed to fail as currently structured; he has done as much to speculate in public that it will have to be altered. Without American combat troops on the ground to physically clear the cities and towns that the forces of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi have occupied, we are in for a long and frustrating open-ended conflict that the American people will quickly tire of. Dempsey is too good a tactician not to know differently; having served with him briefly on a fact-finding tour for the deputy secretary of defense in Iraq in 2003, I found him to be one of the best commanders in the field. If he slaps his four stars on the table and tells the president to find somebody else to pitch the next inning, it will make a real difference.

They could be Court Martialed, and hung for treason, if they defy orders from the Commander in Chief!

This is just another Rethug pipsqueak politician clamoring for attention because he has nothing meaningful to say.

Take away his toys, and order hin to go sit in the corner of the room.

Harry Truman would have fired his ass in an instant!

Ever notice that it's always gay-looking teabags who never served in the armed forces yet are appointed to an armed forces committee that always conspire to commit high-treason ?

If a general officer retires over policy differences with the administration, or only threatens to do so, he can't be charged for treason. Whatever gave you that silly idea?
