Cheer up, Alabama.
Just because a recent study ranks us as the 50th most happy state in the nation, it doesn’t mean things are necessarily doom and gloom. We might feel the worst about our physical health, but we’re middle-of-the-pack when it comes to income growth rate and commute time to work.
Personal finance social network WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of this year’s Most and Least Happy States in America. And while Alabama fared medium to low in individual categories — income growth rate was ranked 26th and physical health 50th — local officials believe numbers are changing for the better.
Overall, the state ranked just above West Virginia.
