Nagl, who said he believes the current situation in Iraq could have been avoided had the U.S. not pulled out its military presence several years ago, warned that Afghanistan is at risk of a similar crisis if the U.S. withdraws all forces from that country, as currently planned, by 2017.

The locals will fight each other when we leave. 2011, 2015, 2020... it doesn't matter. Let them kill each other.

That wasn't my point.

We can stay there for 100 years. Then in year 101 those animals will be fighting each other again.

Could be true. I never was there as you were. The only members of those cultures I experienced live in my city.

We have a local cafe called Normans. A man from Iraq started the cafe and I once ate there fairly often. His food was simple but very good.

When the hostages were captured in Iran, he put up a sign saying he was Iraqi. I have not seen signs there since. The Iraqi Brokers I have encountered in my view can be bastards.

Some of the most dishonest people I have met are old style Iranians.
