I am writing this in hopes that a young man I met in Middleton one day, by chance, might read this in the paper and know how much his act of kindness meant to me.
I happened to be wearing my Korean War cap when I came out of King's Store in Middleton. We were ready to start the car and leave.
This young man came up and knocked on my window. I rolled down the window and he reached in and shook my hand and said to me, "I just wanted to thank you for your service."
He said his dad was also in the Korean War and said he had lost his dad. Just before he left, he put his hand over his heart and said we "sure do love you guys."
Me and my wife were trying to hold back tears. A kindness from this young man meant so much to me and I will remember this for the rest of my life.
