Obamacare fine for noncompliance, as I have said several times- the only recovery method the IRS has is to take any tax refund you are owed. Simple solution: adjust your W-4 so you pay on tax day, rather than get a refund.

IRS can only enforce the fee if through a tax refund (https://www.healthcare.gov/fees-exemptions/fee-for-not-being-covered/)

What happens if I don't pay the fee? The IRS will hold back the amount of the fee from any future tax refunds. There are no liens, levies, or criminal penalties for failing to pay the fee.

The IRS will have no problem collecting those fines/taxes since over 90% of tax payers gets a refund. The tax system is designed so they take more taxes from you then is owed, therefore a refund is due. If people want their refund they must file a tax return. A perfect setup to get people to file taxes.

Even if you file on tax day, you still have to pay the fine out of your refund if you're due one, of course.

I always set my status so I would owe. If the money sat in my account all year I got the interest off of it. When it sits in Washington you don't get squat.

I try to pay under $1000 every tax year. I won't give those crooks a no interest loan.

That is why I said adjust your W-4. (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Form-W-4,-Employee%27s-Withholding-Allowance-Certificate-1)

You can pick what you pay.

Guess we will owe it.

If you never have a tax return, under current law, there is no way for the government to make you pay it. If enough people realize that I imagine Congress will change the law.

This is a tax and it would never have passed if they had been truthful about it.
The reason why I say this is because a fine is a set amount applied to everyone. They are calculated the amount on your income which is a tax.

It isn't a tax. The legislative history is clear on that.
