I just downloaded a new browser- Pale Moon. It is on a firefox frame without the advertising. It is supposed to be 100% open source.

Article (http://www.cnet.com/news/mozilla-officially-kicks-off-ads-in-firefox/).

The Firefox browser, lagging its well-heeled rivals, will soon be serving up an array of ads to one and all.

Mozilla, the nonprofit group that develops and updates the popular Internet browser, said Thursday that it will begin placing ads (http://blog.mozilla.org/advancingcontent/2014/11/13/announcing-firefox-tiles-going-live-today/) where thumbnails of your frequently visited websites would normally be found when you open a new tab. While many of those thumbnails, which Firefox (http://www.cnet.com/tags/firefox/) calls "Enhanced Tiles," will remain as quick links to your favorite sites, some will feature sponsored logos or other promoted images.

You can also just use Firefox with the Adblock plugin. It works well, especially on Youtube.

Mozilla recently announced Firefox Developer's Edition (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer/?utm_source=hacks-mozilla-org%20&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=FX10&utm_content=fxdev-hacksblogannouncement). If there are any other devs in house.

Let us know how well Pale Moon works. If there are fewer ads...I'd like it!

Important question: can a computer idiot handle the install, etc without a lot of problems? (I'm not a computer pro...or even a talented amateur)

I don't see why not. I did it.

Specifically it was the ads firefox started to use. You don't get those.

Because it is based off firefox, other sites you visit with the browser thinks it is firefox. If you are interested I can tell you how to turn that off. It is very easy.

It should work with Pale Moon, since it is an open source firefox clone.

I used Chrome and started to see adds in my posts here. Nobody else could see them, but it ticked me off. So I removed Chrome from my computers. F-them.

You can replace windows machine three times for the cost of one Mac. Or more, if you aren't into serious gaming or design stuff.

I tried Pale moon a good while back, I liked it. Firefox slows down as you use it because it bogs down with files. You can download this small program and it keeps it running much faster.

Its called speedyfox by crystalidea, ive been using it a long time
