The State Department estimates (http://keystonepipeline-xl.state.gov/documents/organization/221135.pdf) the construction phase would create about 42,000 direct and indirect jobs and generate about $2 billion in earnings in the U.S. Opponents dispute some of those numbers (http://www.nrdc.org/energy/keystone-pipeline/). One thing is clear: Once construction is finished in about two years, the pipeline would create only about 50 new permanent jobs (http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2014/nov/16/russ-girling/transcanada-ceo-says-42000-keystone-xl-pipeline-jo/).

The pipeline will only create 50 new jobs. IF we got the contracts to refine the oil that would be different. I'm not certain we should do this for Canada without getting a little more out of the deal.

I saw a piece last night on the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. No way in hell they're gonna let it happen no matter what Congress or Obama say.

We should enslave these tribal criminals and force them to build the pipeline with their free labor.

Beware the driver who happens to be crossing one when it explodes ... forget about GOP govt. shutdowns ... best we got rid of govt. altogether so the Koch Profits can march-on unabated.

Keystone XL Pipeline Safety Standards Not as Rigorous as They Seem

http://insideclimatenews.org/news/20110919/keystone-xl-pipeline-safety-regulations-phmsa-transcanada-oil-sands-bitumen

Research by NRDC shows that only 12 of the 57 conditions set by federal regulators differ from the minimum standards already required for pipeline safety.

Heheh, why not? We can ply them with firewater at the end of each workday to ease the pain!
