You know, back before she sold out and threw her Hail Mary pass on Keystone Xtra Lethal. Why in God's name would she push for a vote on the bill her opponent wrote that would create precisely ZERO jobs in Louisiana when it's a done deal to be passed by the new Congress, then vetoed by Obama? Never seen such desperation in politics... EVER.

Here's the deal i would offer if i were Obama. Give them their precious pipeline under two conditions:

1) Make the Canadians agree to set aside 5B and take entire financial responsibility for the nearly inevitable cleanups.

2) A minimum wage hike to $9.75

Boom ... see how easy that was? ;)

I can't speak for the Canadians but...

I'll see your $9.75 min wage and raise you opening production in ANWR.

Let Canada keep their pipeline. We Republicans want that Senate seat. She called her entire state racist and anti women. She deserves to lose! It's a win win all the way around. :)

as for Landrieu, she's toast. No more taxpayer funded free airplane tickets for her.

Do you HONESTLY think you'll have veto proof majority? :D

Not veto proof.

senators are too fickle to depend on entirely.

but obumer is not very popular even among democrats in congress.

so getting enough votes to override a veto on one item is possible.

No it isn't ... you would need 67 votes in the Senate.

In the next congress that's only 13 democrats.

They won't switch to repub party but they might vote for the pipeline.

I'd call that as big a Hail Mary as Landrieu tossed!

The hubris of the Democrats is absolutely astounding. They are so totally convinced their socialist agenda is the only logical agenda they fail to see the handwriting on the wall of their coming demise.

Maybe.

But it is possible.

Same with Labour. They picked the wrong issues, or kept with the wrong issues at a time when lads can't afford the coffee they've become addicted to.

This would have been unheard of a decade ago:

Landreau has always been a moderate democrat. If you're her fan you should have known that by now.

As a flaming progressive, I'm also a realist. The oil industry in Louisiana is HUGE. If we want a politician in that state to vote with the democrats on other issues, we need to understand that politician has to support big oil to a certain extent.

And your $5b number is way low. The BP cleanup has already cost over $40b.

a. Democrats are hardly pushing a socialist agenda. And everytime those of you bring up comparisons to Hitler, Stalin, or others only makes you look more like a fool.

b. Get back to us in 2016 about a coming demise.

Understand that the oil industry is big there Howie. But how many jobs would KXL create in Louisiana?

http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2014/11/18/364751183/how-many-louisiana-jobs-are-actually-at-stake-in-keystone-debate

Her motivations were desperate and transparent.

Have you ever tried to tell a conservative the truth? They don't believe you. They believe what FOX tells them.

That reminds me, in her speech prior to the vote Mary said that KXL will create "MILLIONS of permanent jobs".

“We can build the Keystone pipeline, creating thousands of temporary and millions of permanent jobs, which are not created by the permanency of the pipeline itself,” she said. “It’s by the signal that America is serious about energy independence. That will create millions of high-paying jobs, and there’s no disputing that fact.”
