England has a Queen so the Prime Minister doesn't have to waste his time on these stupid rituals.

It would be the kind thing to do. Modern turkeys aren't bred to live very long. They're a lot bigger than they are supposed to be and their skeletal systems can't take the weight. I think I read somewhere that they usually die in less than a year anyway. It's a silly tradition.

Wild turkeys are pretty big, but they are all muscle. And they are mean as heck. When I was like 8, I had one chase me through the back woods of a house my parents were visiting. I ran like a girl and climbed a fence and the turkey was hissing at me from the other side.

hmm...I don't think England celebrates Thanksgiving so the Queen nor the Prime Minister has to worry about pardoning turkeys...

They are big, but nowhere near as big as their domesticated cousins.

I had a similar encounter with a crazy white goose when I was a kid. The thing was eye level with me.

...but I think we ate it at Christmas.
