Louisiana went GOP last night.

In the final insult of a devastating 2014 election for Democrats, Sen. Mary Landrieu, the party’s last remaining statewide officeholder from the Deep South, was trounced Saturday in the head-to-head Louisiana Senate runoff election.

Republican Bill Cassidy’s resounding victory is the ninth Senate seat picked up by the GOP in this year’s elections, three more than the party needed to take control of the chamber. With nearly all the ballots counted, Cassidy led Landrieu by 14 points, 57 percent to 43 percent.

Just like our establishment Congress.

The idea is to get the fence sitters off the fence to help unseat the establishment in Washington.

But the fence sitters like being able to blame someone else no matter which party wins,

Which they can do as long as they can say "I didn't vote for THAT guy so it's not my fault."

I don't know about short lived either. There were huge wins in Governor races ala John Kasich in Ohio and Scott Walker in Wisconsin, I think those wins reverberate as much as the Senate victory, Republicans have the majority of Gov seats, very big. It was a sweeping election victory for Republicans.....I'm tellin ya.....I think this Obama an agent for the GOP. 007?

Landrieu didn't lose, she was ejected!

In the December 6 runoff, Cassidy defeated Landrieu by 56% to 44%, settling the fate of the final Senate seat of the 2014 midterm elections. Cassidy's victory gave the Republicans 54 seats in the 114th Congress.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Louisiana,_2014#c ite_note-2) Cassidy will become the first Republican to hold this seat since William P. Kellogg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_P._Kellogg) did so in 1883.

Democrat wins Senate election after investigation reveals ‘phantom ballots’ for GOPAUGUSTA, Maine — After mystery swirled around a contested southern Maine Senate district election for weeks, Catherine Breen — who saw Election Day victory slip from her grasp after an initial recount — is headed to the Senate after all.

Breen, a Falmouth Democrat, was declared the victor on election night by a narrow margin over her Republican opponent, Cathleen Manchester of Gray. Manchester asked for a recount, which was conducted on Nov. 18, and the candidates saw their fortunes reversed, with Manchester squeaking out an even tighter win.

Last week, Manchester was provisionally seated in the Legislature’s upper chamber, and Republican lawmakers had already taken to referring to her as “senator.”

Democrats raised questions about 21 ballots from Long Island seemingly discovered during the recount, all of which contained votes for Manchester. Those ballots could not be accounted for at any step of the chain of custody for cast ballots, and state and local election officials disagreed about the total number of votes that should have been tallied from Long Island.
