Should he be allowed to collect?

At the Florida Lottery headquarters, Timothy Poole, 43, posed for a photo with an oversized check after claiming his $3 million Scratch-Off prize. But when the image hit the Internet, others recognized the 450-pound man as a registered sexual predator.

In 2001, The Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested Poole on charges of sexual battery on a victim under 12, records show. Before that, he was arrested in 1991 for stealing almost $20,000 in food stamps from Safeco Inc. of Ocala, where he worked as a guard.

Redrose, while I completely agree, Florida has some weird people who judge and some more that set bonds. Today, a p-rick from over in Walton County was extridited from Alaska for statutory rape of a 14 y.o. The creep was allowed to post $25,000.00 bond, which cost a mere
$2500.00 and now said creep is walking amoung us. Bleeding hearts have no place in the judicial system.

Well, back to topic, if the richard head is free and isn't under some order NOT to gamble, I hate to say it, he's within his right to collect. (doesn't mean I have to like it) What happens after he collects is up to the people that can and should go after him.

Tell me about it. I worked in the Florida court system for 15 years. The Sex Batt statutes are among my pet peeves. It's getting worse in Florida as the state is drifring further left. I'm still friends with a couple of the judges there, past and present, and hear what is happening there.

Victims may not be able to sue at this point. Statues of limitations for civil law suits are generally 6 years. Of course Florida could have a different law.

I think in Florida it's 4 years from the inident or when it was discovered to file a civil law suit. There are some exceptions allowed, but I can't speak to that.

In a criminal case like rape of a child, restitution is usually ordered. I seem to recall there is no time frame on collecting restitution. If restitution was ordered, the victim should be able to go after him.

Yeah, he should be allowed to collect his winnings. Unfortunately.

Left? Are you kidding?

It's the Rick Scott appointed judges who cry there's no room to put ppl in jails.

Regardless of the horrible acts they commit, they are citizens who are eligible. Also, agree with Pol - victims can then seek compensation through civil lawsuits and actually get something for what they've been put through. Considering the victim demographic is about halfway made up of children (18 years and under), the cost of therapy is high and could be covered hopefully with a good lawsuit, ensuring they get the help they need.

No, his victims should be allowed to sue him for harm.
