Whoever wins the presidency is going to have an opportunity to shape the Supreme Court for many years to come:

I still say no life time appointments. I don't care who or what they are. Plus I want psychological evals on them every 3 years after age 65.

But now all those on the right need not forget this fact no matter what else is said.

I agree, 'lifetime' is too long. There needs to be limits and they need to be of sound mind.

If Ubama wins reelection the SC will define marriage and it won't be between a man and woman. They will make Ubamacare constitutional and take away our right to bear arms by their interpretation. Anyone want to guess what other Constitutional freedoms they'll take away...we don't have many left as it is. Oh yeah, freedom of speech too and control of the internet.

I believe in the past there was only one SC Justice who was relieved of his duties for mental deficits...can't remember, maybe they talked him into resigning.

Supreme Court justices rarely turn out politically the way you expect. They turn liberal or conservative regardless who nominates them. I suggest Jeffrey Rosen's The Supreme Court on the temperaments of of some well known justices.

Not the recent ones...Sotomayor, Roberts, Kagan...politics have become much more polarized. Thomas wasn't a surprise either.

This is the only reason that I may hold my nose and vote for Mitt.

I think you are correct- one was talked into resigning. A long time ago.

Is Mitt going to ask the Mormon church and other religions to stop their charity efforts.

If Mitt were a conservative he'd threaten to put government on a diet.

You mean fiscal cons as opposed to social or neo cons?
