Wisconsin Democrats are utterly apoplectic about their big loss Tuesday--the first time in American history that a gubernatorial recall effort has failed.

The Borowitz Report has a tongue-in-cheek analysis of the upshot.

Here is a snippett:

"OTTAWA (The Borowitz Report) – The Canadian coast guard was on alert today, preparing for what it fears could be a massive invasion of boat people from Wisconsin.

"Conor McGlindon, commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Coast Guard (RCMCG), said that satellite photos had revealed a 'substantial flotilla' in the making, as Wisconsinites prepared to flee their state for their neighbor to the North."

Close. It was the third.

The first two attempts were successful: In October 1921--almost 100 years ago--Lynn Frazier of North Dakota was recalled. Much more recently, in October 2003, Gray Davis of California was recalled, in favor of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
