A growing number of Texans are selecting insurance plans under the federal Affordable Care Act, according to federal officials Wednesday.

Through Jan. 9, the number of Texans who had picked a plan totaled 860,859. Throughout the U.S., 6.8 million people had selected plans in the 37 states using the federal marketplace.

The U.S. secretary of health and human services came to Dallas on Tuesday, hoping to nudge more people into signing up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who has overseen the federal agency since June, met with about 40 local ministers and other faith leaders. She thanked them for urging their members to sign up before the enrollment period ends Feb. 15.

The article doesn't say that Texans are happy about their new Obamacare plans, only that they purchased them.

Note that the law requires this.

Smart people! And they'll avoid having to pay a penalty this year to the IRS if they don't have health insurance as per the law.

No doubt due to the Republican-controlled House and Senate and the Governorship in that state, that is, that do literally nothing to help those less fortunate and with the most need such as the elderly, the disabled, those retired, those too ill to work, etc.

If the elderly and people missing a leg are not getting as much help as they could its because of all the healthy, lazy, deadbeat bums who are collecting from the system.

The IRS has two ways to collect the shared responsibility payment: from your tax return. Form a voluntary payment. So in reality you don't have to pay it. Just don't lie on your tax return and say that you have insurance when you don't. That is a felony.
