U.S. President Barack Obama praised President Shimon Peres Wednesday as the “essence of Israel itself” as he awarded the Israeli statesman the highest civilian award the United States government can bestow upon an individual.

Obama hosted a dinner for Peres, attended by guests including former president Bill Clinton, in a show of respect and affection for the president that reflects close U.S.-Israeli relations.

“The United States is fortunate to have many allies and partners around the world. Of course, one of our strongest allies, and one of our closest friends, is the State of Israel.

“And no individual has done so much over so many years to build our alliance and bring our two nations closer as the leader we honor tonight – our friend, Shimon Peres,” Obama said before awarding Peres the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

“In him we see the essence of Israel itself -- an indomitable spirit that will not be denied,” Obama said, praising Peres for a political career that spanned “the entire life” of the state of Israel.

Dubbing Peres the “ultimate comeback kid,” Obama marveled at his guest’s frequent reinventions over decades in turbulent Israeli politics and told Peres he had earned his place in history long ago.

“Shimon teaches us to never settle for the world as it is, we have a vision of the world as it ought to be and we have to strive for it.”

Obama lauded Peres, 88, for working with every American president since John F. Kennedy in the 1960s, and said that the “bonds” between the United States and Israel were “unbreakable” and “non-negotiable.”http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/06/14/220551.html

Egypt Monocle

As Egyptians first revolted and ousted Mubarak despite the US support for him, they will eventually lead their distressed revolution to success, and Egypt will become a democracy and will become independent from US influence. And those who will rule post-revolution Egypt, regardless of how “revolutionary” they may seem, are not expected to dance to America’s tune as Mubarak did.
As much as the United States likes to think that Egyptians need it, it is America that needs Egypt, or else it would not have given it more than $60 billion of American tax payers’ money over the past three decades.
A democratic Egypt, which is yet to be shaped, will eventually thrive — with or without US support. Once this dream becomes a reality, whoever rules Egypt will no longer be able to ignore the will and interests of Egyptians.
Sooner or later, an American-Israeli zero-sum calculation may seize to be viable.......

The US did not support Mubarak in the end. Obama clearly stated that Mubarak had to go.

What is Egypt's plans for maintaining its heavy military pieces like main battle tanks, artillery, and airplanes?

Yes Obama did say Mubarak had to go. What I find amusing is how an Egyptian runs around calling Obama a Terrorist War Criminal. Now thats some funny shit. Do you think it could be used for a comedians Stand-Up comedy routine? :burp:

Well with all the money they get from us.....you would think they would invest in some Direct TV. Course they could talk to their Saudi Masters and ask that they get a US Comcast Cable Company built in their country.

He only said that when he realised that the whole of the US suddenly knew who Mubarak was, notwithstanding that the spotlight had been kept off of him from the day he was surreptitiously installed as Egyptian President by a former US government.

You must be tired from carrying water buckets for the DNC. But thanks for the laughs.

The 18 days the US had no clue what to do like today.

For sure US was part of decision making when Shafik and Omar Suleiman were elected in 18 days.

Suleiman especially
