All we're getting is more polar air. It promises to be a rather cold week.

I actually prefer it when it snows. It's warmer. When it's too cold you don't get snow.

Happens here a couple of times a year over a 24-48 hour period. The trick is to shovel every time it gets to a foot or so . The bitch is the end of the driveway where they plow you in.
In still boggles my mind that northern cities got so large despite being virtually helpless in large snow storms.

One of my brother's lived in New Hampshire & Vermont for a few years. He told about having to get up at 4 am to shovel the snow from his garage to the street (which was plowed) before going to work. He said the area was beautiful & everyone was nice, but.....

In 1947 there was a record breaking blizzard, my father was stuck in the city with his delivery truck, couldnt move he was stuck in manhattan. An ambulance was trying to push through the snow and got stone cold stopped and couldnt move, with someone in the back needing a hospital.

My father told me all the men that were stuck, surrounded the ambulance and acutally picked it up and moved it over to free it so it could move.

Keep in mind this was 68 yrs ago, they didnt have what they have today.

That sounds like my husband buying a riding lawn mower. Son (who had moved out) asked why didn't he get one earlier. Husband's response: "I didn't need one...I had you".

Waiting for a good blizzard. I did however about kill myself walking to the start t he car for church yesterday- A thin layer of ice over everything. I decided to take my heels off and trade them for flats. The kids and I had to hold on to each other to get to the car and get to the church.

I went for a run last week when it was 10. Felt great!

But still.... I am waiting for a good blizzard. Nothing like a good Montana blizzard while the wood stove is burning hot! Idaho winter disappoints me.

Not much experience with ice around here (thank goodness). We encountered our first ice storm while working a job in north Alabama. Husband was so proud he was able to drive from the job to the RV with no problems. He got out of truck & promptly hit the ground...we learned that gravel sometimes freezes into marbles...impossible to walk on!

I'm away from the coast so they're saying just 12 to 18". Tough to be closer to the coast. Up to 24" with hurricane winds. Near as bad as '78. A foot or so isn't unusual, it's the wind that gets you. Bring down the power lines.

Agree I hate ice storms worse. Losing power for a week sucks.

We're getting snow now. Upper elevations will see a foot or more, we may see 2-3 inches. The problem is we always get rain then a freeze right before the snow so it makes driving trecherous, especially on the mountain roads. Looks gorgeous though.

Family on Long Island are hoping their roof holds up.

Funny how everyone loves govt when there's a major emergency like a massive snow storm

No one quotes Ayn Rand when a major blizzard is coming.

They demand that govt spring into action.
