NEW YORK - Facing a tightening presidential race and onslaught of cash from pro-Republican outside groups, President Obama tonight got a boost from some of his loyal allies in the film and fashion industries (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/06/the-obamas-star-studded-new-york-night/)with an exclusive multimillion dollar campaign fundraiser at the home of actress Sarah Jessica Parker (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/05/sarah-jessica-parker-to-host-obamas-for-fundraiser/)and her husband, actor Matthew Broderick.

A party of 50 donors, each paying $40,000 to attend, gathered around a long table just inside the entryway of Parker's four-story brownstone in the West Village to dine with the president and First Lady Michelle Obama. Spotted at the table were actress Meryl Streep, producer Andy Cohen, designer Michael Kors, "Vogue" editor-in-chief Anna Wintour (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/06/rnc-web-video-lampoons-obamas-anna-wintour-fundraising-effort/), and actress Olivia Wilde. (Broderick was not in attendance; the president noted he "had a show to run off to.")

"It is a great, a rare, a very special and I'm assuming a singular treat to welcome you into our home - our radiant, our extraordinary first lady," Parker said motioning to Michelle Obama, who was seated beside her at the head of the table.

"You've done amazing important things these past four years…. I very much look forward to the things you're going to accomplish in the next four years," she said of the first lady. Parker then turned to the president, standing a few feet away, saying the crowd was gathered "hopefully and with enormous enthusiasm" for the "beloved current and future president of the United States.

The Parker event was expected to net more than $2 million in ticket sales alone for the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising account for the Obama Campaign and Democratic National Committee. An online grassroots fundraising contest in conjunction with the dinner also netted several million dollars, officials said.

Robin Hunt of Baltimore, Md., was named the lucky winner of the contest, according to the campaign. She and her mother, Elvita, of Winston-Salem, N.C., received an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the dinner and meet the president and first lady.....snip~

Romney raised 3 mil last night out-gifting Obama again, and in Chi-Town. But once again 40k a pop for those TV Stars and Entertainers with Obama. He really is calling on them to get their friends out for him. This is great to as the papers call it a Star Studded Event. Keep showing Obama partying with the 1%.

But Parker.....really does need to quit hitting the kool-aid.

Get over it ... the President doesn't need your permission to use Air Force One ... never did, never will. :)

I hear that Wintour moved mama Sarah and kids out of the house and proceded to have the place cleaned up. Sarah obviously has no time for house work. Not surprised, she looks a little shall we say, slightly soiled herself. She IS that character that she played in First Wives Club. funny. Life does imitate art.

but i still want to find out if there were lucky dinner winners last nite. I'm so sure this bunch was cordial to the little persons in the room IF there was even a winner.

Where's that winner??

oh...missed this>

And how many times did Bush fly to his ranch during his two terms, and how much did THAT cost taxpayers?
The right wing carping about President Obama's Saturday sojourn to New York is so altogether predictable that the only surprise would have been if they'd remained uncharacteristically silent and not made an issue out of it.

But it raises a more interesting question: Why didn't we hear one whimper of carping on all of those occasions when George W Bush flew off on Air Force One to his Texas ranch, Camp David, Kennebunkport, or wherever else he chose to go during the weekends of his presidency? If memory serves correctly, Bush spent less actual time in Washington during his two terms in office than any other president in recent history.

So why didn't we hear any complaints from the Republican side of the aisle, or the ring-wing lunatics, when Bush was spending all of those valuable taxpayer dollars on his own weekend escapades? Could it be because he was a Republican?
All other possible explanations for this apparent oversight are welcome.

you get that off one of your leftwhacko sites? You tell me. How much did we spend when Bush went to his home in Texas. You know it all. And while you're at it. Compare the golf outings, travel, and the executive orders.

Here's the way the left is portraying it. bush spent 5 times more than obama.......did for Obama's christmas vacation alone. Well DUH. Bush was in office 8 years and Slobama has only been in there 3 and God Willing he'll be gone in a year.

PLUS. What about all this promise of transparency? How about this promise of hope and change? Where did that go? Americans are suffering and this bozo and his family are taking dream vacations that most of us will never get to experience.

Because Bush unlike Obama.....did not have an Open White House. Which means there are no extra costs for security within the White house and without with DC police. With Obama this costs money.

Moreover Bush did not meet with to many foreign leaders in the White House, nor did he give them extravagant dinners. Even the NY Times commmented on him not giving these other leaders all the Pomp and Circumstance. Course they were trying to put Bush down for it back then.

Also Bush did not give out all these awards to all the Arts inviting Hollywood Elites to come in and have dinner and party. Which again at the tax payers expense.

Bush did not fly Musicians to campaign events and Bush didn't use Air Force one as much as Obama has. Obama has flown to California at least 6 times in the last 4 weeks.

This is also not including Obama having a Bus made Specially for him. Which Bush did not do. Course back then Obama JUSTIFIED IT as a Listening Tour!
