That's not uncommon with portraits, it's a sort of "halo effect". I had a CEO with a similar portrait of him that hung on the lobby wall. I always thought it was gaudy.

So maybe dark skin doesn't compliment that kind of portrait, who knows.

The only way I can see that it's an honest mistake is that if it was painted from a photograph where he was very blown out. There is some credence to that theory as there are heavy flash shadows on his legs. That being said, the columns don't appear to be washed out. It's probably a combination of factors...but the result is a white Bobby J.

Do any of us know? Assumptions aside.

Hey, who knows? Maybe Mac painted it for all I know. Then again he didn't paint blonde hair or blue eyes, so maybe not.

But some can get "outraged" over Idris potentially playing the new Bond, but to dare talk about this painting, we must now have to have a reason?

Let's do the math on that one.

OK, I have to plead ignorance. I don't follow a lot of stuff and Hollywood is on the bottom of my list. And I admit that the significance of color perception completely escapes me. Does my inability to have a response triggered by the contrasting hue of this guy's picture vs portrait make me evil or just stupid?

LoL, it looks to seem that you are having difficulty understanding the difference between a photo....and a painting. A photo is susceptible to the effects of using the wrong exposure, flash, etc...whereas a painting is the product of the artist painting it.

I'm having difficulty understanding how anyone makes any kind

of determination from a pic of a portrait on the internet.

Mediaite has already walked their hit piece back and

@Cigar (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=294) has started distraction. This thread has failed.

There was a thread a while back where Rush and some on the forum were upset that Idris Elba was being considered to play the new Bond character. Their "reasoning" is that Bond was always casted as white and he should be white, however, I asked if the character would be any different if it were not white. Idris is a British national, Bond was a British national, what was the issue. It would be different if someone black was casted as Eminem or Hitler, or if someone white was casted as MLK or Malcolm X.

Fast forward to today, now we have a painting that is obviously taken some artistic "liberties" and interestingly enough now, it's no big deal....

If you notice, the area around his head is glowing.

That's not uncommon with portraits, it's a sort of "halo effect". I had a CEO with a similar portrait of him that hung on the lobby wall. I always thought it was gaudy.

So maybe dark skin doesn't compliment that kind of portrait, who knows.

@Dr. Who (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=612) might
Well the portrait is unimpressive. It is based on an overexposed photograph, and generally doesn't resemble Jindal except in a general way. There is a lack of shadow, which is obvious in the photograph upon which the painting is based, the nose is incorrect, the brow line is too flat, the facial creases that form through smiling are underdeveloped, the jaw line is too narrow, and the hair line does not recede enough at the temples. All in all it is a very amateur offering. Furthermore, and most importantly, it does not capture the character of the subject.
